I'm using
longsleep's latest image with HDMI to VGA adapter connected to my 2GB PineA64+ and have it working fine.
-I attached USB to TTL adapter to my Pine's UART and had the VGA cable, coming out of the HDMI to VGA adapter, to an old 1280x1024 LCD monitor.
-On first boot I accessed the Pine through serial console, logged in, ran "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade".
-After that completed I executed the command "sudo sunxi-disp-tool switch -name 720p60", the display came on the monitor, although stretched from top to bottom since the monitor is 1280x1024 rather that 1280x720. I did an "Auto Adjustment" on my monitor to get rid of over-scan, but image is still stretched top to bottom but very usable for testing.
-Also happy to notice that USB WiFi support is included in the latest
longsleep build, just execute "sudo apt-get install linux-firmware" to install many of the available WiFi adapter firmware. Tested with a RT5370 based WiFi adapter.
-I also installed Mate desktop with lightdm successfully on my Pine, "sudo apt-get install mate-desktop-environment-extras lightdm" is the command I used to install the necessary packages.
Much thanks
longsleep!
