what stopped pinephone pro?

In a blog it says pinephone pro was discontinued due to low sales. Since daily use level was never reached for the pinephone pro's software it is difficult to say if the pinephone pro could have gotten a market share. For free software people the pinephone pro would probably have been a best option buy.
Why did the pinephone pro never get proper software support? Was it too difficult technically to get the software ready? Could the software have been made had money been plenty? Thanks.

Part of the deal though was they had run a one-off fabbing of the special PPpro rk3399 CPU, I am guessing they did the normal 4xA53s and 2xA72s to give a burst CPU mode.  Whatever the case the decision to run a special fab run meant that once the first lot was used up there would need to be enough interest to go back to rockchip for another run of custom CPUs.
