Pinephone could have better cooling (suggestion)

Hello,

I have a pinephone, and I noticed it gets warm. Maybe future pinephones could have heatpipes/vapor chamber or something. That's what I did to my Pinebook pro. I opened it and put a heatpipe in there, with thermal paste.

I think that working on getting more GPU and other hardware acceleration into use in the OSs and smart throttling will help us more than heat sinks and will save our battery life too.
Right now for most compatible OSs we are still in the brute force method used by computers(not sure about Ubuntu), the PP performs similar to a 2009 Maemo5 Linux Nokia N900 while running current OS and software.  Not sure how much is ten years of desktop software bloat vs an OS and software sponsored by a cellphone company but both CPUs are licensed ARM processors but ten years apart.  We will solve the wasteful CPU use in time.

It depends upon what OS you are running and what you are doing with it. With that said, my Iphone got hot as well during different tasks.

I’m just thankful that we have a viable open source alternative to the major data harvesting brands.

Just because I can, I managed to put a piece of copper in there for slightly better temperatures. I made sure there was thermal pads between the board and the copper, so I don't short circuit it. It still works. Also, it is true that it's better for software to improve than chucking in a heatsink. Since more optimized software helps with better battery as well, is more able for cooling.
