Hopefully you are able to get to the bottom of this. Probably worth documenting exactly what happened to release smoke so that the whole community and future devices can potentially benefit.
I removed the back cover, inserted sd card #1, very soon found out it is smoking, removed battery. inserted sd card #2, powered it on, it worked fine. removed the battery, inserted sd card #1, powered it on, burnt my finger because it was extremely hot, removed the battery again. then i tried to plug sd card #1 into my pc through usb card reader and it worked just fine.
I would not have dared to insert that #1 a 2nd time Blush

If #1 gets hot in phone and works in PC then I would guess that the PC is in better shape to adapt signal levels to what the card requires.

Obviously the complex handshake protocols between card and the interface in phone do not work as expected.

I suggest you try a few other (small low cost) cards in the phone and check if any one of them gets hot. When not, your #1 looks partially defective and I would no longer use it in the PC either.

If another card gets hot in the phone then I guess that the phone's hardware is defective. In this case, both cards that became hot, are in danger to be damaged, and I would no longer trust them.

I assembled phone back and tested a couple of cards: #2 stil works fine. #3, which is identical to #1 is also functional. After a couple of tests on different devices, i tried to insert "the hot" #1 card. and now it works fine. it's readable and usable. probably i had accidantly shorted somecthing during my first try (i  don't really know how i managed to), but, fortunately, my phone survived it without suffering any damage
