  PinePhone Not Charging.
Posted by: blicken - 02-09-2020, 10:14 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (3)

Ok, I didnt want to post "me too" for gab's post of pinePhone not charging, but: "me Too".

I have +3V , +5V on the pogo pins, so I can guess that the USB is making a power connection to the mainboard.
The 4 pin battery connector has 0Volts on all 4 pins. The PinePhone seems to recognize that the phone is, or isnt plugged in, but will not charge it.

I have tried turning off all the kill switches, resetting, removing the sd card, at no point will the battery charge. Can I get a schematic of that circuit?
I have some hacks on how to force this thing to work (like solder a wireless charger directly onto the battery), but I'd really rather get it working as its supposed to.
I dont expect much in terms of warranty service, but some schematics, or community support would be much appreciated.

Additionally, are there any requirements for the usb charging device?
What is the charging power?  Is the USB C cable  anything special?
Can I charge the PinePhone via a computers USB port?

Why does it require some proprietary components?

I have received my phone and installed pmbootstrap. When I ran pmbootstrap init I got this:

UPDATE - NOW POWERED UP VIA MAINS! Re: PBP No Power
Posted by: dsk70 - 02-09-2020, 08:20 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (6)

*****UPDATED 2/15/20*****

I was able to troubleshoot and ascertain that my PBP has a defective battery pack.

I disabled the battery pack by unplugging its bus connector (and eventually removed it once finished testing).

I was able to easily boot to mains with the AC adapter, after connecting it to the power bus that is under the black tape
(note the attachment of a photo I took to show the troubleshooting).

What is the best replacement spec for this battery pack, either from Pine or alternative source based on this one evidently being defective?  Angel

Thanks!

*************************

Hi,

I received my PBP here in the U.S. a few weeks ago. Followed the initial procedures for Default OS update log and no problems.

I haven't used the device for a couple of weeks past setting it up.

I have had the device on charge today with the pin AC adapter. The red light stays on for about 20 seconds then goes black every time I try a new power socket.

Even while pin AC is inserted no power up.

I have tried the USB C and similar situation.

Is the device somehow hybernating/sleeping even though no power lights on the bezel or pin AC illuminate?

or is the device permanently "bricked" somehow?

Thanks for any guidance!

  Ubuntu-Touch: LOCKED OUT!
Posted by: SkunkOwltopusmopotamus - 02-09-2020, 07:21 PM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hello all!  New here.  First post ever.  Virtually complete newb.

Problem: I just installed Ubuntu Touch OS (2/9/20) on my Brave Heart & my bloody screen timed out before I could set security parameters, yet it's asking me for a security code.  Is there a default code or how do I do a factory reset?  Any assistance is very much appreciated.  Thank you.

Python3 cli app to bridge SMS/MMS to matrix/riot.im
Posted by: FutureBucket - 02-09-2020, 03:38 PM - Forum: PinePhone Software - Replies (12)

quick edit: My script is almost done. SMS/MMS/Group chats are all bridged to matrix and I've been using it without issue for over a month now.
I just a couple things left to do and then I'll clean it up. Please give it a try!
https://gitlab.com/untidylamp/ofono-matrix-puppet

Original post:

I'm working on an app that will allow you to send/receive SMS and MMS messages from the web using Matrix/riot.im

here is the very first version with a really bad readme file. as of right now only SMSes work but I have the code for ofono to send/receive MMS. I just need to figure out how to send files to matrix and then put it in the script.

I'm not very good at programming but I'm learning. Hopefully someone else finds what I'm working on useful or maybe it will help them build a more reliable web texting app Smile

I'm also interested in running a VoIP server on my phone so that I can use a VoIP app on another device to send/receive calls from my cell number without forwarding calls to a VoIP provider. That way I'll just leave my little server PinePhone at home on all the time but be able to do everything a phone can from any other device with a data connection. I have no idea where to start with this so I'll just be forwarding calls to my VoIP provider for now.

Question Quiet Speakers In Manjaro
Posted by: TDC_PBP - 02-09-2020, 03:23 PM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (4)

Does anybody else have extremely quiet speakers while running Manjaro? I have tried both firefox and chromium, along with a few different websites, but the speakers remain extremely quiet. My volume is turned up to full both on the websites' volume control buttons and in the system ui. Ideas anyone?

  Possibility of remote power switch
Posted by: pfremm - 02-09-2020, 01:31 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - No Replies

I am curious if it's possible have a remote power switch Vs using only the one on the board?  I've looked at the wiki and don't see anything obvious, but thought I'd ask and double check.

  3G? amplifier?
Posted by: soyrunner - 02-09-2020, 01:05 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Have my Pinephone.  Modem reports -113 dBm but outside can be -70dBm.  I want to use the Pinephone on PagePlusCellular as 3G.  I currently use an Incredible 2 on cdma with an amplifier.  Since the cell tower is only a mile away but there's a hill blocking, I have a yagi antenna pointed 45° away and get signals to and from by bouncing off a hill in that direction.  I would be happy to buy an amplifier that can do Verizon 3G as PPC uses the Verizon network.  Can this be done?  Any recommendations appreciated.  I also have a 2 meter loop antenna that's no longer used from my amateur radio days if that could be any use.  Thanks.

pkgsrc framework on Pinebookpro Linux (manjaro)
Posted by: astr0baby - 02-09-2020, 10:47 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - No Replies

Hello All,

I have written a short howto about getting pkgsrc framework setup on the Pinebookpro aarch64 Linux (Manjaro)
It is a great way how to build binary packages and compile everything from scratch, while keeping the original system libraries and binaries intact
and keeping the whole environment in /usr/pkg  an /usr/pkgsrc

- Howto https://astr0baby.wordpress.com/2020/02/...ebook-pro/

Should be reproducible on the Debian native image, but I have only tested this on Manjaro

- for those unfamiliar with pkgsrc ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pkgsrc)
