I installed manjaro 20.03 in march, and pretty much haven't touched the pinebook since april. Now I am back to it, every time I try to run pacman it can't connect to the package servers.

Is there any way of fixing this? Or will I have to completely reinstall to a newer manjaro? I just want to install a few more packages and update what I have.

I tried using this: https://store.pine64.org/product/pineboo...e-adapter/ to upgrade my PBP storage capacity using these instructions: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=4971 but after the "sudo cp -avx / /mnt" command it makes my "kernel panic" and the power light starts flashing red and green.

On the second try of restarting the laptop I'm able to log back in like normal, so is this behaviour a sign that I can't use this high amount of an SSD, or is i possible as long as uboot is in the right spot? Not sure how to do that though if so.

So can we have animated wallpapers on the pinephone? Here's a quick video that says yes.

Caveats: It's running on desktop mobian and utilises approx 12% per core for 720p videos. 1440p native resolution playback is smoother but double the cpu penalty. Selector menu expects mouse rather than touchscreen.

This eye candy is a bit expensive even with pause-when-not-focused but there's a fork of komorebi which may implement improvements.

What do the abbreviations DU, ED and FB mean when they are used to identify components?

• DU : "U" is for an integrated circuit, but not sure what the "D" means. (e.g. DU1)
  
• ED : "D" is for a diode, but not sure what "E" means. (e.g. ED600)

I just ordered a PinePhone, and I've been doing some reading on the wiki...  It sounds like it will be possible to get several SD cards, and install a different OS on each card, and then swap OSes by powering off, swapping the SD card, powering back on.  Is that correct?  I'm hoping it is, because it will make it super-easy to try out some of the more interesting (and maybe less polished) OS options.

Is there any particular reason to install an OS on the internal storage (versus SD card)?  Maybe better performance?

I am happy this kind of wonderfull device came to life   but before buying one for chrsitmass for me, i have severals questions to ask you ^^

- does the battery works a complete day ? i saw so many tutos and vidéos telling about the 4 hours of battery

- i have to use (please excuse me) 4 propriétary sofware as instagram ( for my daily pics), facebook, discord and deezer) and yes as a linux user i am sorry to have to make with it. but perhaps do exists some ice ssb encapsulations for theses big datas software ?

- do the gps and the 4g works fine ? i use sometime some gps tracking in a car and this is usefull !

I'm sorry to ask you all this, the pine phone begins a coooool and sure product and will come to me one day ^^

I have connected an external RTC module (ds3231) to a Rock 64/4g.

I've loaded i2c-dev modules and rtc-ds1307 modules but my rtc mod is not detected by i2c (i2cdetect shows nothing connected at address 68)

Hardware is ok (if I boot with ayurfan distro I can see the external RTC module).

Could it be a kernel configuration problem? Has anyone had similar experience?

My Linux distro is Arch Linux Arm.

I like many others have remained focused on ub ports since the bulk of PP users either seem to use it or postmarket. I love the UI and responsiveness, consistent operating temp and overall stability. We appear to be very close to a working daily driver yet many things seem incomplete, held up in dev for a long time and it is taking a long time to iron out many bugs. Aside from UBports, i thought mobian may be showing the most promise and fastest progress. Until today, i checked into the very quiet Manjaro forum which has had limited activity and voila! Guess what? Looks like they have almost everything working and stable. Im posting this here under UB ports for one reason: i really like ubports and i think its got amazing potential. I think the devs here should take a good hard look at what Manjaro has quickly and simply done with a smooth and rapid roll-out. I feel some lessons can be learned and we can get ubports up to par! Perhaps ub & pmos got a bit too big and complex too fast making it harder to troubleshoot while manjaro kept it simple?
