There is an interesting project called 'meshtastic' that uses 'GPS radios as an extensible, long battery life, secure, mesh GPS communicator.' It seems to be based on this radio thingy which supports these freqs: 433/868/915/923Mhz
I was trying to figure out if I can attach to such a mesh network using a stock pinephone, instead of buying the extra GPS radio.
Some specs for the pinephone that I have seen are:
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 (MHz)
The quectel GPS unit is described here but I can't figure out any frequencies from that document.
GNSS: GPS, GPS-A, GLONASS
Anyway if someone who knows about such matters can weigh in - I am pretty far out of my depth but it would be very cool to be able to use the phone as long-distance carrier-free communicator.

Hi everyone,
I have a pinephone64 3gb edition currently with postmarketOS on it. I want to install pureOS or PhoshOS onto it. The computer I have has Ubuntu 20.04.1LTS.
Could someone help provide me with details instructions how to get the OS installed onto a SD card using my computer which has Ubuntu OS? That way I can put the SD card into the pinephone64 and have it boot up to pureOS to try it out.
PS please keep in mind. I am new to linux and using the pinephone.

I got my Pinebook Pro in January 2020, with Debian Desktop flavour as default OS, then later on around July I installed Manjaro 20.4 to eMMC, few weeks later I noticed that it caused a problem, SD card slot stopped working (mmc1), but it worked before on Debian Desktop and also Manjaro was flashed by using this sane SD card slot, it does recognize card in dmesg output, even gets the name and size of the card but fails to establish actual data link, I tried asking help from discord chat several times but it's probably not the best place to ask as if there comes some easier question people spam their responses to easy question and my problem always fades to the past or people throw suggestions like it's SD card fault and so on, which I rule out in beginning as I have many SD cards to test it with, it must be related to firmware or something as its both unable to correctly read them when OS is booted and when i try to boot from SD card slot. I also tried installing Debian Desktop back via this mmc slot and it shows Debian's open sesame boot splash image, and then fails, any ideas?

Hello,
I'm a NOOB. I have an Ubuntu computer and a Windows 10 computer. I have also had a stroke. I have just bought my Pinephone with Manjaro on it, but it has Postmarket OS on it instead. I want to flash my phone, but am not sure how to do it. I followed the following instructions:
Detailed usage instructions
- Download the Jumpdrive image
- Flash the Jumpdrive image to a micro SD card
- Boot the PinePhone from the Jumpdrive micro SD card
- Connect the PinePhone to your computer using USB-A -> USB-C cable
- Flash the exposed PinePhone drive (e.g. /dev/mm..., check for the right device in dmesg, GNOME disks, or similar, and make sure it's unmounted) with your chosen OS image
- Once the flashing process is complete, disconnect the PinePhone from your PC, power it down and remove the Jumpdrive SD card
- The process is now finished, and you can boot from eMMC
I got the Jumpdrive image on my pinephone saying that it's ready to go but then (point 5) I'm not sure. How do I flash my pinephone? Do I use etcher? Also, which computer is easier, the Ubuntu or the Windows?
Many thanks,
Chris

So after waiting months for the pinetab to be available again, I saw yesterday, that it's available and put in in my shopping cart. I was on road and the website said, the item will be hold for 12 hours. When I arrived home, I wanted to complete my order. But suddenly, my shopping cart said, the item is no longer in stock.
So that means, the item is not hold for you and can be "stolen" from your cart.
That is so disappointing... Is there a way to get a notification on availability next time or is there a time frame known yet?
Thanks!

I'm thinking of buying a Pinephone from my friend instead of ordering directly as it's more comfortable for me. Since it's a second-hand phone, what are the thing I should check\care before buying it? Is there something like reset /restore I should do to get it factory version?
