  1.2b boards for BH people
Posted by: ashleymills - 03-01-2021, 07:38 AM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (4)

I missed getting a replacement board for my BH edition phone. Is there going to be any more in stock?

What was the deal with the cheap price? Were you making a loss at that price or not?

If not, can you extend that price to any BH owner that needs a replacement board?

Ashley

Suggestion: PineAIO - 32" screens with upgradable Pine boards inside -
Posted by: mitcoes - 03-01-2021, 03:21 AM - Forum: RockPro64 Hardware and Accessories - No Replies

I recently bought All In Ones for my sister - with MS WOS - because "it was easier and fancier"

But for laptops Chromebooks are her "easier" option - because it was a Christmas gift to their children - in their home.

28" was the bigger screen I found.

And as 32" are more productive than 28" and 60Hz IPS panels are relatively cheap (VA even more) ...

... I think that offering 32" All In One (with and without TV) ARM computers, with GNU/Linux preinstalled can be a great typewriting machine that also provides what every SOHO (Small Office and Home) would need, and even act as a TV.

And that having that 32" format, will boost Pine boards sells.

Last but not least, adding KDE TV versions to  32" TVs, can open a market for high diagonal TVs powered by pine boards and Linux, better if, with time, you can easily replace the board with new ones as times goes by and, in this case some new codecs as AV1 now are added to the hardware, also WiFi 6e, BT 5 etc.

  Troubleshooting ROCKPro64
Posted by: alephnull - 03-01-2021, 02:30 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - Replies (3)

I recently bought a 4GB ROCKPro64 (including power supply) and am unable to make it boot. I have a serial adapter (running at 1500000bps) connected and have tried the following:

There is no output following the output messages listed above and the board is not responsive to serial input.  I have tried 2 different SD cards (SanDisk Ultra 16GB A1) and in all cases, verified the data written to the card against the original image file.

Based on RockPro64 boot sequence, the "U-Boot TPL" lines suggest that the TPL is loading but the lack of a subsequent "U-Boot SPL" line suggests that the subsequent SPL loader is not starting.  The ayufan boot prompts are different but I'd expect something similar to my Rock64, which starts:
DDR version 1.13 20180428
ID:0x805 Y
In
SRX
LPDDR3
786MHz

I have tried raising a support ticket but, after more than a month, that has gone nowhere - the only suggestions have been to run a memory test, without actually providing any suggestion as to where I might find a memory test that doesn't require a fully functional U-Boot.  Can anyone here suggest additional troubleshooting steps I can perform?

Plasma Mobile telephony broken? Testing / Unstable
Posted by: dcinoz - 02-28-2021, 08:58 PM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (11)

Wondering if anyone else is having issues?

I've had ofonoctl indicate registered and yet getting an Unable to make calls in Dialier and a telepathy error in Spacebar.
I've had the modem go unpowered for no apparent reason (problem with resume from suspend?).
I've had the modem not turn on at boot.

I also still have some calls wake up the screen but nothing else, no notification with cancel / reply or ringing.
Changing audio out from earphone to speaker seems to lead to no ringing problems?

Is this due to eg25-manager / ofono 'conflicts' or simply the ongoing resume / suspend problem? Or is it the modem?

Curious as when I switched to Plasma Mobile I was excited the phone rang immediately when in suspend on a incoming call and same with incoming sms / text messages, but now it seems to have gone wrong.

Perhaps a recent eg25-manager update? Not sure ofono was updated recently.
Guess it is still work in progress.

Also, does anyone know if unstable updates are available via mirrors? I switched to unstable but it didn't get anything new.

  Euro symbol
Posted by: jiyong - 02-28-2021, 03:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - No Replies

I'm running Manjaro on my Pinebooks Pro.
With the ISO model I can type the Euro symbol with Alt Gr + 4.

With the ANSI model I tried to set the keyboard to US, Euro on 5.
But unfortunately it doesn't work for me.
I set the Compose key to Right Alt.

Anyone able to type the Euro symbol with the ANSI keyboard?

  Phone doesn't mount on laptop
Posted by: lsitongia - 02-28-2021, 01:14 PM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (2)

When Jump Drive is running on the phone, plugging it into my Manjaro Plasma laptop via USB mounts the phone as a storage device. On the laptop, I can see the phone's eMMC and the SD card. But, when Manjaro Plasma mobile is flashed to the phone's eMMC and up and running, plugging it in doesn't mount anything. Nothing is logged on the laptop when the USB is plugged in and removed. I'm using the same red USB cable that came with the phone in both cases, Jump Drive and running system. What is different?

How do I get the phone to mount as a storage device on my laptop?

I'm running Manjaro Plasma mobile beta2.

Thanks!

Manually mount SD card in running system?
Posted by: lsitongia - 02-28-2021, 01:08 PM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (3)

I haven't found a distro yet that will automatically mount an SD card in the phone. I'm running Manjaro Plasma beta2 right now. Why doesn't the SD card automount when booting the phone? I've made sure that the SD card isn't bootable, so it doesn't interfere with booting the phone. The SD works fine when it contains an OS image or the jump drive.

How do I go about manually mounting the card? I want to use it for file storage, music, etc.

Thanks for your help!

General use for USB-C docking bar
Posted by: lsitongia - 02-28-2021, 12:36 PM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - Replies (1)

I've been trying to figure out how much I can use the docking bar which came with the Mobian CE Convergence edition. It worked under Mobian (I think) and pmOS (pretty sure - I'm spinning through distros to find what works). Doesn't work under Manjaro Plasma beta2.

I'm trying it out on my Manjaro Plasma laptop. syslog shows the components being recognized in it. Mostly works, but there's some oddities, like when I plug in the HDMI the ethernet shuts down. Is that something intentional in Manjaro Plasma? For example, I see when a second display is connected, Notification automatically switches to the do-not-disturb setting. Maybe it's shutting off the ethernet for some similar assumption about how it's being used?

It doesn't work very well at all on Windows 10 (same laptop - dual boot). Does it need a driver?

Is this docking bar a known device that has been labeled by Pine64? Does someone have the model of it so that I can search for drivers?

I also have a little GPD Pocket 1 mini-laptop. Docking bar doesn't work under Windows 10. I booted Manjaro Plasma on it and the docking bar doesn't work there.

In all cases, I power the docking bar with the power supply suitable to that computer.

Thanks for your insights.

Convergence dock not charging pinephone mobian
Posted by: tecnocris - 02-28-2021, 11:07 AM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - Replies (8)

Anybody else experiencing this issue? Dock works fine for everything but it's draining my battery at a rate of about 2w. I though it might have been the usb port on my monitor i'm using it with, so I switched to a wall charger and when connected to the phone directly it charges, but as soon as I try to use it with the dock it's back to discharge mode. I'm running all the current updates on mobian at the moment.
