Question Backing up contacts prior to OS reinstall
Posted by: danimations - 09-26-2021, 07:41 PM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (3)

Is it possible/practical to backup my contacts somehow, then restore them after I've reinstalled the operating system?

If so, a step-by-step guide to achieving this would be greatly appreciated.

  GCI data on Pine Phone
Posted by: nelstomlinson - 09-26-2021, 04:04 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - No Replies

If you live in Alaska, this could matter to you.

GCI data works on my Pine Phone. From their website, the settings are:

Quote:[Consult your phone manual for steps to enter the GPRS (Data) settings, these settings are normally used for Smartphones, but may be used for other devices. Please note: These settings are case sensitive.
Name: GCI WEB
Access Point Name (APN): web.gci
Authentication Type: None
Type: Default
Security PIN (if requested): 1234
Enable APN (On APN Settings screen GCI WEB should have a blue or green dot showing it is enabled)

Rackmount cluster case as a Pine Store product?
Posted by: dfr - 09-26-2021, 11:48 AM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Good day!

As is evident from the attached image (which is from a Housekeeping blog post),
the community around Pine64 makes rackmount cluster cases.

I think it would make for a fine product -- and certainly, I'd buy one.

Is there anything that stops this from being productivised?

Was this idea even considered?

  optional SDIO Wifi/BT interface?
Posted by: dieselnutjob - 09-26-2021, 11:25 AM - Forum: Quartz64 Hardware and Accessories - Replies (1)

I have tried a USB WiFi adapter (it's an odroid one) but I'm not having any luck with the Android build.
Would the "optional SDIO Wifi/BT interface" work?
Where do I get one?
Is it this one? https://pine64.com/product/rockpro64-1x1...-0-module/ ?

thanks, DNJ

  Yubikey 5C on manjaro
Posted by: zeb11 - 09-26-2021, 08:37 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (3)

Hello,

tried using the yubikey 5C on my pbp but cant get it to recognize the device.
I was looking at this wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/YubiKey and installed yibikey-manager and yubioath-desktop.
After that enabled pscd.service and tried to see if yubi authenticator sees the device but was not the case.

lsusb output did not show the key either.

Any ideas on what I could do to make this work ? Already trying two days but no luck so far

extlinux.conf file error, can it be edited in bootloader?
Posted by: Abandoned Brain - 09-25-2021, 07:22 PM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (2)

Ok, I had a perfectly running Manjaro installed on my PBP eMMC, but decided to update the U-boot to see if it might fix a clock issue I have (likely not but I had never updated that part of the system myself). That went ok, but now instead of a black boot screen until login, I see text regarding the boot sequence. I don't want to see that, so I removed the "console=" bits in the extlinux.conf file per another Manjaro site.

Stupid stupid me, I didn't think to make a copy of the extlinux.conf file, and made a syntax error in the file, and no longer will the system boot into Manjaro!

I can get into the boot command line, but I can't see any way to edit that conf file to fix the problem, no nano, pick, vi... Is the system completely trashed now? I don't have any way to mount the eMMC in another system right now, but I could pick something up from Amazon in a few days...

  Amazfish connect to pinetime
Posted by: espenbo - 09-25-2021, 04:58 PM - Forum: PineTime Tutorials - No Replies

Just a small tip for people trying to connect to pinetime to Amazfish.

If you have a newer device with InfiniTime software pic thise as the device when you search for the pinetime. Don't pick the device named pinetime.

And If somebody knows hove to see and set the right date of birth It would be grate.
In the gui I can only see the days. Not the years or months.

harbour-amazfish.conf
dob=@DateTime(\0\0\0\x10\0\0\0\0\0\0$\xe7\x88\x2\x93.\0\x1)

If somebody knows how to convert dates in the format used in the conf file. I think that could be a way to set the date and year rigth.

Music Can only hear/speak during a phone call when on speakerphone
Posted by: danimations - 09-25-2021, 11:01 AM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (4)

Hi. I have a new problem with my Pinephone, which is running the latest stable Majaro ARM w/ Phosh.

When I make a call, I cannot hear the phone ring, and when the receiver answers, I can't hear them and they can't hear me.

If I press the "speaker" button and switch to speakerphone, I can hear and be heard, but with a nasty echo audible on the receiver's end.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? What do you think might be the cause?

I had another problem with telephony earlier this month that was resolved, but now this new problem has emerged. The former problem was discussed here: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=14857

The only thing I've done with my phone recently that may have caused a problem was a failed attempt to install Signal protocols, Could that have possibly interfered with these functions?

More importantly, as I use Pinephone as my "daily driver"... how might I fix this problem? TIA.  Cool

How did you get data working on PureTalk?
Posted by: nelstomlinson - 09-25-2021, 10:21 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

I have a PureTalk sim in the phone. It gets calls and texts, but data doesn't work. I keep getting texts warning me that the 3G is going away; I suspect that is connected to no data.

Settings shows, under Modem Details:
Carrier PureTalk
Network type LTE
Signal strength 44%
Network Status Registered

Under access points:
Access point name att.mvno

Running Mobian Bookworm on the eMMC.

Any ideas on how to get data working?
