I bought my pinephone end of last year and was still a bit round the edge at the time. retried from time to time.
In past week, I tested again and notable improvements. Thanks a lot to all contributors.
My comments
- mobian 20210913 daily (bookworm)
* no disk encryption - this one is really annoying. IMHO, can't use for day2day without it.
* no option to install/copy to eMMc
* dmesg pollution, mobian/bookworm only (not bullseye): `mmc_erase: group start error -110, status 0x0` repeating continuously
- mobian installer 20210916. for some reason, still in bullseye
* great point, offer disk encryption
* can target sd card or eMMC
- general
* disk encryption and password unlocking with yubikey and nfc would be great. even if likely so,e pinephone add-ons and maybe recent yubikey needed
+ Hello, nope - the PinePhone does not have NFC. We're currently evaluating future add-ons for the PinePhone however, and obviously NFC has made the discussion list. Stay tuned, more information may be coming in the next few months. Sep 2020

+ Linux-based PinePhone To Bring Wireless Charging, NFC, And Keyboard, Oct 2020
https://fossbytes.com/linux-based-pineph...-keyboard/
* wireguard vpn working well in permanent mode, just missing a mobile UI, cli only and resolvectl/resolvconf symlink workaround.
* Axolotl/signal - pending recent breakage fix because of signal.org servers change
* as it's flash/reimage pretty often, I made an ansible playbook for post-configuration and restoring configuration but still have issues.
for example gnome-online-accounts, restoring .config/goa-1.0/accounts.conf and .local/share/keyrings but silently failing after restore without details.
still working on some gnome-settings. wifi/nmconnection files are fine.
* many applications with UI not fit for mobile: nextcloud-desktop (+not using online accounts), keepassxc (known/no plan per https://wiki.mobian-project.org/doku.php...the-screen), ImageMagick, seahorse
* megapixels version is not latest and only produce dng and tiff. options for png or jpg would be nice but ultimately it would be fine if other applications were reading dng or tiff which is not the case. for example, authenticator is only supporting png and jpg.
* anbox is not supported https://wiki.mobian-project.org/doku.php?id=anbox. any plan for waydroid?

Hi,
I have a UB Port Pinephone, 2GB RAM / 16 G emmc. Recently I replace it with the 3GB/32G emmc and brought the front touchscreen pannel in the hope of replacing the older hardware and the broken front touchscreen which I break it when accidently dropping it.
I followed the instructions in the store page on how to replace the emmc and at the same time I replaced the front pannel. After assemble, it did not even startup on pressing the power button. I also tried to plug in the usb charger and nothing seems to be working (no screen, no light, no nothing).
What should I try? Any input or suggestion are welcome.

| how to use spidev0.1? |

Hello,
I want to use spi0.1 on rock64 (ver 3.0).
I tried enabling rockchip-spi-spidev in armbian-config, but it didn't work. When I open the dtb, it seems that it is not for rk3328 as there is "compatible = "rockchip,rk3399"".
Where can I find the right dts?
I tired:
add num-cs into the rk3328-rock64.dts
Code: spi@ff190000 {
compatible = "rockchip,rk3328-spi\0rockchip,rk3066-spi";
reg = <0x00 0xff190000 0x00 0x1000>;
interrupts = <0x00 0x31 0x04>;
#address-cells = <0x01>;
#size-cells = <0x00>;
clocks = <0x02 0x20 0x02 0xd1>;
clock-names = "spiclk\0apb_pclk";
dmas = <0x12 0x08 0x12 0x09>;
dma-names = "tx\0rx";
pinctrl-names = "default";
pinctrl-0 = <0x32 0x33 0x34 0x35 0xb6>;
status = "okay";
phandle = <0x86>;
num-cs = <2>;
spiflash@0 {
compatible = "jedec,spi-nor";
reg = <0x00>;
spi-max-frequency = <0x2faf080>;
};
};
dmesg:
[ 3.239265] rockchip-spi ff190000.spi: Failed to register controller
[ 3.239495] rockchip-spi: probe of ff190000.spi failed with error -22

| Chatty, SMS does not work - could hardware be at fault? |

After the Lamination Issue wrecked my old Pinephone, I received a new one yesterday and installed the latest Mobian nightly.
However, I cannot send or receive text messages via Chatty.
At first I thought Mobian Bookworm is at fault. But it seems to be a hardware issue: SMS does not work either, when I boot Mobian Bullseye from an SD card.
By contrast, when I boot from the very same card on my old phone, SMS works. The standard installation of course works as well. Also, I can make an receive calls on both phones.
Since the same Mobian istallation on the same SD card works on one phone and not on the other I don't have any other explanation than a hardware issue.
Could that be? Any ideas?

Hi, there i've tried searching it but I don't can't seem to find anything.
Does anyone know a way to remove the lock screen on mobian? or any OS for pinephone.
Its annoying to have to type it in each time.
But for myself I want to lock the cellphone for parental controls, If i remove the screen lock I can download appropriate apps basically removing the web. So it can be used as a talk and text phone
