How can I call an external command (as if I'd typed it at the Unix shell or Windows command prompt) from within a Python script?

Question Need help : Issue in running compiled kernel with tftp+uboot
Posted by: dinesh.bhoyar - 01-29-2017, 02:07 PM - Forum: Linux on Pine A64(+) - Replies (2)

Hi All,

I have tried compiling following component for Pine 64 1GB board (as instruction mentioned at https://github.com/apritzel/pine64)

uboot - (git://git.denx.de/u-boot.git master branch)
kernel -(https://github.com/apritzel/linux.git a64-v4 branch)
( command used to create uImage  "mkimage -A arm64 -O linux -T kernel -C none -a 0x80008000 -e 0x80008000 -n "Linux kernel" -d arch/arm64/boot/Image uImage")
Uboot runs successfully but kernel loading  does not proceed and hangs at "Starting kernel ..." messages

What I am trying to do is to boot board with NFS+tftp, but not able to proceed beyond uboot.

Detail logs are as follows

Problem connecting to specific wifi network
Posted by: JamesWatt - 01-29-2017, 02:21 AM - Forum: Ubuntu - Replies (1)

Hi,

I have ubuntu installed, this version:

Code:
ubuntu@pine64:~$ sudo uname -a
Linux pine64 3.10.104-2-pine64-longsleep #113 SMP PREEMPT Thu Dec 15 21:46:07 CET 2016 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux

I have 2 wifi networks at home as in some rooms wifi recption is poor.
I'm running the primary wifi on main internet router near the living room and a secondary wifi on an access point in one of the rooms with bad wifi.
I configured wifi in the living room on the primary wifi network, no problems at all wifi is working.
Then moved the pine to another room where it should use the secondary wifi.
Reconfigured wifi ssid (that is the only difference between both), but the pine won't connect.

I am sure both wifi networks work as other wifi clients (like phone, laptops, etc) have no problem connecting to either of them.

It's just the pine that won't connect to the secondary wifi.

Any suggestions on how to debug?

Thanks,

Eric

Webcam vs camera module on pine64+
Posted by: fkpkot - 01-28-2017, 06:25 AM - Forum: Camera Module - Replies (4)

Hi,
i'd like to use my board (pine64+ with 1 gb) for some OpenCV...
I'm planning to capture short videos and analyze them using OpenCV.

I've read the posts on the camera module and from what I get, it seems a bit weak on capturing videos and such.
In comperison i'm looking at a simple webam ( almost the same price).

What do i get from using the camera module (except the compact size and free usb port..)

Thanks ahead.

Any chance we will ever see the BSP?

I would love to get my hands on the source with drivers no matter what shape it is in.

I am willing to work on it and smooth out some of the rough edges and contribute back to the community.
I am an embedded Microsoft MVP ready to help.

  [Solved] Pine64 Crashes
Posted by: dedseason - 01-26-2017, 08:47 PM - Forum: Linux on Pine A64(+) - Replies (11)

I've been using my Pine64 to host my Plex and Transmission torrent server. Lately, I've noticed that the server only stays alive for ~1 day before becoming unresponsive (meaning I cannot SSH into it, but the power light remains on). I'm hoping someone here has an idea or suspicion for what's going on because I'm at a loss.

Hardware setup:

  • Pine64 - 1GB board

  • Externally powered USB 2.0 hub

  • 1TB USB 3.0 Drive

  • 2TB USB 3.0 Drive
  • Heatsink on cpu
Below are the services that I'm currently using:
  • Plex Media Server (Plex application data is on 1TB drive, media is on 2TB drive)

  • Transmission daemon (writes to 1TB drive)

  • PlexPy (monitoring)

  • DynDNS (for easy-to-remember CNAME for Transmission + Plex)

  • sshd
I'm currently running Debian and here is my /var/log/messages: http://pastebin.com/RdYkpzCt

Any help would be appreciated.

I installed Android 6.0 via the link in the wiki.

Where do we log feedback/bugs?
