  No boot at all
Posted by: Arkadiusz - 11-29-2017, 04:31 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (4)

Hi everyone

This is my first post on this forum. I am a brand new user of the ROCK64 4GB SBC.

Few days ago I have received my order.

MMC card I have from Odroid but also I have created some SD cards to try different boot methods.

Unfortunately none of the boot methods works.
After applying power all  three LEDs lit solid light. Nothing else happens.
Power adapter I use is 4A one for Lenovo.

I do not have serial console. Or shall I say do not use, as I have not tried USB one. Will it work?

I have working tinker board from Asus, raspberry pi first gen and odroid xu4.
I haven’t imagined that will have such a basic problem with ROCK64

Also I can not find any kind of documentation. Like  meaning of white and red LED, usage of recovery button, etc.

Can someone help he, guide me or point source of information?

Thanks very much,

  Possible Hardware Fault/Issue
Posted by: jata - 11-29-2017, 12:24 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (6)

Hi All,

I have 2 brand new rock64's 2GB. they arrived a week ago. Overall very impressed compared to my old raspberry pi.

I have installed and done a basic linux / armhf config using ayufan-rock64 (jessie-omv-armhf). Everything working fine and i'm using brand new SD cards.

I setup the second board exactly the same - again using a brand new SD card. All fine for a while then i noticed occasional issues with the OMV web interface restarting. looked at the syslog and i see the board has done a reboot cycle. there is no load on the board just restart without any user intervention. Happens every few hours but no pattern.

Thought it was an installation issue so started over but same issue.

Now i am using the same SD card and swapping between the 2 boards using same network cable and power supply.  I can can firm the issue only happens on one of the two boards.

Nothing in the logs that I can find but I'm not an expert...

Can anyone help or is this a support issue for Pine 64?

  2 very useful apps
Posted by: Rebebel - 11-29-2017, 06:47 AM - Forum: Android on Rock64 - No Replies

Hello there !

After trying to have the same easy-use tiny board as I had with a rpi2 on openelec (that mean andoid smartphone remote, samba shares of ext.Hdd, airplay like etc.....),

I finally found some apps that work great on atv 7.1 build for rock 64 :

 - If you want a smartphone remote , install cetusplay remote on your smartphone and cetusplay server on the rock 64.
Combined to "launch on boot" app it do the job perfectly (even the mouse pad somtimes make the mouse disappear but nothing dramatic - you just have to click on it one more time)

 - if you want to access to the sd card or a external hhdd connected to the rock64, I recommand you airdroid app (the app should installed on both devices : the rock64 and the pc/mac/linux).
Very easy to use and ollow any type of transfers in both directions.

I hope this will help someones make their dream card board.

The last think I don't reach to make it working is to stream the sound of my android phone to the rock64 (my Rock64 is connected by cable to my theatre hi-fi)

My understanding is that EMS shipments should take about 7 - 15 days.  I'm well outside that and I normally see packages hit Chicago (or another city) and go through customs.   I sent a reply to the sales address which sent me the tracking info with no response.   Am I being impatient, or does it seem like this package is really slow or lost?

Did anybody else notice that date/time does not refresh after you wake up device but stays at the point when Rock64 was put to sleep? Is there a way to force refresh after waking up?

  Rock64 0.6.x ayufan images
Posted by: matteobp - 11-28-2017, 05:24 AM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - Replies (26)

Hi all.

I have a Rock64 board with 1GB, no EMMC module.

I was able to try the 0.5.10 images, like "xenial-mate" and "stretch-minimal" (with the XFCE4 desktop environment installed later), but if I try the 0.6.x images, when I power the board, all 3 leds light up and remains on, nothing else happens.

I tried both Etcher and dd command method to write the SD card (Samsung EVO 16GB).

I can exclude problems with power supply (I bought the one they suggested on their site, 5V 3A) and with SD card because I have no problem with 0.5.10 images.

Is something missing?

Thanks in advance
Matteo

Can anyone get the power switch works?
Posted by: victorfence - 11-28-2017, 01:31 AM - Forum: Linux on Pine A64(+) - No Replies

After I shutdown Linux, I cannot re-power it on by press the switch,
the red colored led just turn on for a few seconds and turn off, then the screen shows "switch to sleep mode" ....
I use the ubuntu image and have updated to latest longsleep's kernel.

I must re-plug USB power to get it boot.

Any info about this?
