Is it just me, or can more people test login in with a Chromebook?
My password works when I'm on a Windows machine, but I can't login with my Samsung Chromebook Plus.
I have the password in a mail, so I'm not typing it, I'm pasting it.

Hello all,
I cracked open my pinebook after I noticed the hindge was opening the case a little bit when opening the lid. Some of the plastic is broken in many of the screw points, so it got me thinking; what are alternative ways to reuse the hardware in my pinebook. From the wiki doc on the LCD screen it said that the interface for the screen is an eDP (embedded DisplayPort), but the ribbon cable on the pinebook board is the same size as the DSI interface on a raspberry pi 3b (and others). But I also noticed that the same cable drives the web camera too.
The cable has the following information on the sticker that was covering the connector:
YD200 LCD Cable
P/N: FPC-C0176
Date code: 18/10/08
Vendor code: XBH
Is there an easy (cheap) way to adapt this to DSI or HDMI input? I would like to use it with a Retropie setup.
Thanks

Weird problem, I am running android 7.1 on my pine a64+ and after loading android and I start using it, the screen rotates 90 degrees and i cannot get it rotated back without shutting down. It usually happens when i try to get into an app, and seems to do it no matter the app. Hope this is enough info, I''m stumped

Found a few minor issues on the Pinebook Pro specifications page;
https://store.pine64.org/?product=14-pin...nux-laptop
The weight is given in both metric & pounds, (aka lbs). But the dimensions are not also given in inches.
(Yes, I know us yanks are behind the times... and we can use a unit conversion tool... however, it's just a few numbers.)
Next, the Flash section has a old data on upgradable size;
Flash: 64 GB eMMC 5.0 (upgradable up to 64GB). The first two batches release for PINE64 forum user edition contains 128G eMMC module.
Probably should read;
Flash: 64 GB eMMC 5.0 (upgradable up to 128GB). The first two batches release for PINE64 forum user edition contains 128G eMMC module.
If there is a different method to report web page typos and such, just let me know.

Hello pine64 community!
I am really happy to finally see great laptops such as the pinebook pro, stating to emerge with RISC - ARM architecture.
I have been following the developments for years and although in the smartphone, iphone, ipad product lines there are super fast RISC SoCs since many years, there is a long delay for this technology to pass to the laptop sector.
Pinebook Pro is the best available laptop right now in the market for an amazing price and I wish to congratulate the Pine64 designers for this effort.
Unfortunatelly, my personal computer needs are a bit more demanding, using my laptop for mathematic-scientific simulations and although I wish to ditch my x86 laptop for years now I still can't do it.
Fortunately, the last crop of arm chips (ie cortex A76, A77 not custom samsung or Apple chips) seems that they have caught up with the x86 ones and they demonstrate HUGE improvements on single thread and multithread performance!
Presently, the successor of Rockchip RK3399, the RK3588 based on Cortex A76 is being manufactured and according to Rockchip "mass production is planned for Q1 2020"! That is so soon! Considering that cortex-A76 provides more than 100% performance improvement over the RK3399's cortex-A72 in single thread, it is amazing news! Also Mediatek has announced that they are preparing their next Cortex-A77 Soc for 2020! These are amazingly fast chips!
Please PINE64 designers, for power users like myself consider creating a beefed up version of Pinebook Pro with a SoC like RK3588 and a little bit more RAM, or even better, socketed RAM not soldered so people can upgrade them according to their needs?
Congratulations again for your great products!

Hey,
I shouldn't be asking while pine is in the midst of bringing out so many awesome products, and they have to finish, but...
Are there any plans to produce an rk3588 based board in the near future? Something that maybe could be swapped into the pinebook pro down the road?

Many users will want install a larger and faster drive. So I'm starting this thread for questions and answers, and will update the information in this first post.
So far, there are at least five main issues:
1) The physical specifications. They were posted earlier. Sorry, I couldn't find the post.
2) Mounting hardware and installation.
There was problem with the NVMe adapter issue that has been solved. If you already have an adapter, then you will receive the additional parts necessary to make it work. Please, do not try to use the adapter in the Pinebook Pro without these parts.
Please see here: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=8117
3) Power consumption.
"Around 2.5W reserved for NVMe drive. Please don't use the power hungry type SSD which can creates heat and power consumption issue."
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...8#pid47438
"the 3.3V regulator which is responsible for supplying the NVMe adapter can handle up to 8.25W momentarily, and isn't put under significant load by much else in the system"
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...5#pid48355
4) Heat. This is related to power consumption. It shouldn't make the PBP too uncomfortable to use, or make the drive or other components exceed their operating temperature. Finding suitable drives will likely be the result of trial and error. Fortunately, external enclosures are available, so buying a drive that runs too hot in the PBP won't be a complete loss.
5) Starting up from the SSD as the system drive.
(Since I already placed my PBP order, I'm guessing I'm in the first 100, so I'm willing to do some testing on this issue. I plan on buying two different 256 GB, then using one as a USB back-up drive. Larger drives consume more power and produce more heat, but so far it looks like some 2TB drives should work.)

| Anyone planning on ZFS or BTRFS for file systems? |

I like the snapshot, built-in mirroring, and other features of ZFS & BTRFS. By preference, I'd use ZFS, it's more mature, and has more features than BTRFS. But, either one would give me alternate boot environments, so OS upgrades can be less painful. Been using ZFS on Linux for 4.5 years, and I like it. (Used BTRFS before then, and alternate boot partitions before BTRFS.)
Anyway, with a dedicated "/boot" partition, ZFS on Linux allows all the features. Including native ZFS encryption, (pool wide or dataset / zVol).
Has anyone here used ZFS or BTRFS on ARM64?
I guess it's time to un-pack my old media server, (a slower, low power quad core AMD64), and practice / test the latest OpenZFS features like pool or dataset encryption. (After all, PBP is a laptop, made for travel...)
