I have the same problem with Rock64. The connector loses contact when you move the power wire.  Angry

I have same  issue with oficial power supply bought in Pine64 store. Try first another power supply or change the male connector. It looks like official one is too narrow outer diameter or too wide inner one. I've changed it and everythig works fine now
This connectors works very  well form me. I've done some power cables for my several  rock64

Good and simple idea!

Before doing what you've suggested I've done a measurement with a multimeter, and found it's actually the tip, not the sleeve that loses the electrical contact.

I've started to search for a more complex solution like replacing the barrel connector with a USB-C connector such that I'd power my SBC using USB Power Delivery tech. Seems like quite feasible solution:
  1. Simple way to get 5V at up to 3A (no IC): https://forum.digikey.com/t/simple-way-t...a-15w/7016
  2. Robust way with two IC involved: https://fpx.oxplot.com/
