Try first another power supply or change the male connector. It looks like official one is too narrow outer diameter or too wide inner one. I've changed it and everythig works fine now This connectors works very well form me. Before doing what you've suggested I've done a measurement with a multimeter, and found it's actually the tip, not the sleeve that loses the electrical contact. I've started to search for a more complex solution like replacing the barrel connector with a USB-C connector such that I'd power my SBC using USB Power Delivery tech. Seems like quite feasible solution:
