Armbian for Rock64
#21
it is true that Armbian Bionic with Kernel 5.4 won't run on a Rock64 V.2.0?

In fact i tried and it would not show any screen and i blamed until now the hdmi-to-vga adapter or hdmi-to-dvi adapter.

Thank you.

Actually the Armbian Buster with Linux kernel 5.4.x run well on Rock64 rev 2, mine run as a headless server.

Seems to be hit and miss.   My v2 1GB won't boot any armbian except stable bionic with 4.4 kernel.  Tried a bunch of 5.4 armbians with no luck.  irc user lanefu bought a v2 to test...his works fine.  I dont know why.  I suspect its the uboot/kernel config.
Arch/Manjaro latest works but their config breaks any compiling above using -j1 even with a swap file.   I don't believe the devs on arm linux know how to deal with the deviations from a maker who has at least 3 versions of the same board.   Mine came out of a Recon-Sentinel from ebay fwiw.

EDIT: 4-7-20 I just installed latest ayufan ubu focal unstable image and its been ok for a day now. Time will tell if this becomes my main image vs arch/manjaro.

Hi, i own a ROCK64 rev2 and I'm unable to boot on any armbian from an SDcard... the board just won't boot !

I checked the sdcard and it's perfectly fine, a single ext4 partition totally readable on my linux laptop but the board just don't boot on it, blank screen.

I have no problem with ayufan images but they include a vfat boot partition as for raspberrypis...

Would any of you have a clue of how to make this work ? Thanks

I tried multiple images and get no hdmi output.
Can anyone help me with getting this resolved?

Latest Armbian Buster from the Armbian page booting fine. All the obvious things to check are good quality HDMI cable, reliable power supply, genuine SD card and a properly downloaded Raspbian Buster image. Etcher can be a bit flaky for creating an image too.

All the cheap rock64v2 boards in the wild seem to give a pretty inconsistent experience. Ive see images boot fine on some v2 boards and then same image fail to boot on another v2.

FYI we are demoting the Rock64 board status to Community Supported due issues such as above.

I tried Armbian on my Rockbox on SD card, but it does not boot. Apparently I need some Rockbox DTB, but unable to find it. Any hint?

Can you confirm the device and model you are trying this on? This thread is for rock64 (you mentioned rockbox)
