I don't believe RemixOS supports the LCD though...
If you want to use the LCD 7", you must use the LCD Android image.

so when the drive come out?
1 months, 2 months 3 months?
Because with driver we could do a lot of interesting thing (in my case, change an old raspberry with pine64 to do a multimedia center with kodi and retropie)
thx very much for your work!

Which as I've pointed out before in other threads is not what I purchased this for! I was under the impression the LCD would work with ANY OS.... That was NEVER explained... I'm happy to leave the thing in the drawer until/if it gets proper support... notice weeks later we still aren't getting info in a remotely timely manner... What ever happened to the EULA etc.... its just being forgotten... much like the Pine64 will be... Hell this is worse than when the Beaglebone Black was first released

I respect your opinion; however, parts of your statement are either not true, or are unfair.
... the Pine64 was marketed as an Android platform. That cannot be stated enough. As it turns out, it is WAY more than a pile of tablet guts... but that is in fact how it started (tablet guts) !
As things progressed the gnu+linux side of things (mostly thanks to volunteers) took off to the point where linux pretty much has over-shadowed Android. If you want to use video on this device (media content) use Android, that is what it was designed for, and that is how it was marketed.
On the other hand, this super-computer on an index card is cable of running headless servers (gnu+linux) and it is more than capable of running as a desktop workstation environment; I have been using my debian and ubuntu images (now Gentoo) as primary workstations for most of the summer (while my mac and my notebooks have idled in the background).
I built a fully functional Android cb&dt playbox with my 7" LCD display... its fun, and it works !
My primary interest is gnu+linux. Some of us are trying to figure out how to make the LCD work with gnu+linux; and you know what--- we're going to do it too ! ... but its going to be volunteers who do it... Xalius now has his LCD... lennyraposo just got his LCD(s), two of them... I have had my LCD for a few weeks but really haven't had time yet to get into it.
If you want to use video with the PineA64 use Android. Period. Don't wait for the EULA, nor any magic, nor anything else. Its going to be a while, for some legal as well as technical reasons.
its ok to be critical. But, please, try to be fair. What I am noticing is that people made assumptions about what this device (and whatever software) were going to be capable of doing, without understanding all the technical ramifications nuances and caveats. All I'm asking is that you be fair. This PineA64 board (hardware) is incredibly flexible and highly functional. The software needs to catch up, but oh boy is it catching up rapidly.

I also appreciate the hard work put into this by so many talented people in this community. In my case I have 10 2GB A64+ boards I purchased to build a classroom for our makerspace in the hopes of using it to teach FreeCad and 3D printing among other topics. However even though FreeCad runs on the Pine64+, it still needs OpenGL support to run smoothly specially when inspecting the designed parts. So, I've been anxiously monitoring this topic since Luke opened it. I really hope that AllWinner gives us what we are missing, because I think the Pine64 will be the better board for my project.

Unfortunately, this was something that was just not clearly explained at the time. There was no claim that the LCD work with any OS... in fact, the only real mention of it was in relation to Android, so whilst it *could* be inferred that it (the LCD) was marketed as being for Android primarily, its hard to draw that conclusion from the kickstarter page, and the backer messages sent during and even after the campaign was funded. Whilst Android was marketed as being ready to roll, with access to all the great apps on the app store, in the same breath, there was also a prominent focus on on the Ubuntu support, and not many people would envisage ubuntu as being a headless linux environment (and certainly isn't in line with Canonical's vision of it being a 'human friendly' linux!) :-O
With respect to the EULA, until progress is made (more a legal issue than a technical one, as Lenny already has working builds as you can see from screenshots he's been putting up) it can't be legally distributed, so things are at an impasse there until the legal issues are resolved. That does not prevent using the board for things like a headless server, a lightweight desktop GUI, media server. But it does mean if you want things like the 7" touch screen to work right now... your best option is to use Android. And since there are rooted images available, you should be able to do just about anything you want to that build. As the guys at pine64 wind up the shipping process... (they're near the end... since they've processed over 38,000 shipments, and had some 11,000ish to go in late July).... they'll be able to focus attention on getting other aspects of the pine64 software/hardware support up to speed. So I would expect to see good things on the graphics front, etc in the coming months...
So try the Android image, and see if you can wrangle that into a usable state for your current purposes, or shelve the board for a couple of months and check back in... it certainly isn't a lost cause... just an over-funded, hence behind-schedule project
the problem with saying it was an android board is that pine64 says it is best to run android on the plus board only due to memory constraints. this sort of leaves other OS options a necessity for the other 2 boards. the android aspect was based on the media center concept. i checked the kickstarter page and it seems clear that ubuntu is marketed as an option as well as openhab and also other linux distros. if all products were marked with whatever disclaimers were needed then the purchasing decisions would have been much easier and there would have been, imo, a big reduction in frustrations about what can, and can not, be done with any given product and a clearer understanding of what works with what. since in some cases there is advice given about what is needed to me it is a simple lack of communication by a new startup which is understandable. i do think that going forward to have all products clearly described will be a great benefit to pine64.
Guys/gals,
Although very enlightening (Android vs Linux and the LCD issue), I think many of us would prefer the discussion on this thread to keep the focus on the status of the 3D Hardware Acceleration for our boards. It seems there is more to the missing EULA issue than we have been made aware of. I understand these things may get complicated, however there has been no updates at all for a long time. I think the goal here is to keep all of us in the loop as much as possible, and to keep the discussion open so it doesn't fade into the dark, because IMHO this board rocks and the 3D HW Acceleration will make it stand out over the rest of the SBC's available today.

I agree with jrullan. I'm silently waiting for any news good or bad every day. It would be nice if anyone would drop any scrap of information here from time to time. No dates or anything. Just if any progress was made because I read in some other thread about EULA problems which is still not entirely clear to me.
Edit: And what is happening with pine64.pro web site? It is very often offline now.

1. Use Pine64 Running Ubuntu 16.04 Web Server ( LAMP )
2. Use Pine64 Running Official Android 6 for Media player
3. Use Pine64 Running Volumio Digital Audio Player
