PinePhone Beta 3GB modem not working

the modem shows up in the gui (Arch Linux arm and Plasma Mobile with gdm intstead of lightdm) and with "mmcli -m any" but it shows always "failed" and "sim-missing"

let's take simple advices first. shutdown the machine and after that remove battery. reason for this is because modem chip takes power from battery.

try different installation on sdcard, my suggestion would be phosh. plasma tend to be rather unreliable.

it shows only "No SIM" and a sim logo with a questionmark

Is it possible that SIM pins were damaged by an adapter? Several people have reported that kind of problem on the forum. Another possibility would be the SIM card not making good contact. I had that problem intermittently and solved it by installing a thin plastic shim cut from a milk bottle between the SIM and metal cage of the socket (barely visible in photo).

i used instead of the plastic sheet two layers of tabe but with no sucess

Are you in the correct slot ? (Lower one)

yes i use the lower slot for the sim and the upper for a 64gb microsdcard

Did this sim card work in another phone ? Have you already activated the card ?

this sim works fully in a nokia lumia 610 windows phone

that brings us back to the phone.

Can you see or inspect inside the sim socket if you remove the sim card ?

If the contacts look undamaged, then maybe a thicker plastic shim like Zeb recommended ?
