openwrt for the rock64
#1
hello,

for anyone interested I managed to generate an openwrt image for the rock64 based off the latest master tree

I may get around to just setting up a github of what I did but there's better people than me that have been working on this support recently. I basically provide this as is as a proof it's doable that said it should be good to go as a basic router using ethernet vlans, and there's wireguard that can be set up via webui to try it as a vpn etc. Power usage seems good, only 1.4w-1.5w idle with only the microsd card and ethernet plugged in and working.

* i skipped support for sound and drm though I assume it's totally doable
* The partition sizes are probably too large but it's what's left over from experimenting in getting it to boot the kernel
* I didn't compile support for policy routing via web interface etc.

Don't forget to turn on  'packet steering' in the web ui and you can probably increase performance by increasing the minimum cpu frequency in the starup section by just pasting something like  ''echo 600000 >  /sys/bus/cpu/devices/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq"  or "echo 816000 > /sys/bus/cpu/devices/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq"

Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing! Feel free to add your img to the ROCK64 Software Release wiki page, too!

i've updated the images to bump the kernel up a bit and to set the atomic dma pool to 2M

refreshed again

glibc / gcc 10.2 / binutils 2.35
kernel / openwrt / mt76

I also changed wireguard to use the 5.4 backport branch instead of the compat module, just remember that once you've set it up the vpn in the gui reboot it for the interface to appear

usb_modeswitch does appear to work with the mt76x2u adapters, unfortunately the USB 3.0 port on the Rock64 isn't fully supported and if you want them to work on boot it looks like it's best to just plug it into one of the USB 2.0 ports that said the USB 3.0 will work you just have to re-plug the adapter in and then it works

I can confirm it works at least in station mode, mesh mode is slow though
