Ubuntu 20.10 beta
#1
Hi,
Would it be possible to upgrade from the pinebook Ubuntu 20.04 image to 20.10 beta? Does anyone run Ubuntu currently? Does the Ubuntu os work fine on pinebook?

I think nobody yet tried that, but I will try for sure, don't know when, but maybe very soon. I just think that some things may stop working, like video acceleration, etc.

I just tried it and successfully updated to 20.10 from the pbpro Ubuntu mate image 20.04. I will have to play with it to see if there are any deficiensies.

First thing to notice is that the keyboard layout is out of whack. Trying to figure out which keyboard to go with. Need to review the pinebook wiki for ANSI layout. Anyone know which one to use?

I upgraded too and it went smooth and it works well, even better than on my x86 laptop (it has a problem with sound)

Kernel stayed the same, GPU acceleration and sound works, no problem.

There was some additional keyboard switcher in the tray, so I just uninstalled all "ibus*" packages and rebooted.

Sorry I'm still a bit of a newb, how do you remove the ibus* packages?
#6
Just started Muon package manager and searched for "ibus" string in package name and removed all the installed packages that contained "ibus" in its name.

I'm not sure if I flashed the correct image of Ubuntu. My install came with bare minimum. I don't even have the muan package manager. Neither is there libre office or anything. I tried to run the command below to see if it would install the missing apps.

Sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

It loads and says its already installed with nothing new. I flashed the pinebook image from ayufan.

I think you can just run a command like "sudo apt-get remove ibus*" and it should remove all those packages.

Thank you for your support!

Is this the Ayufan Ubuntu or the Armbian Ubuntu? Or is there another Ubuntu...?
