battery usage

Sad
Hi all!  I'm continually impressed with using Mobian on my UBPort Community Pine Phone.  The one thing that hasn't quite make it reliable for me is the battery life.  It seems to be continually draining even without the power saving mode engaged. I have not been anywhere close to the 20 hours of standby time.   Looking at Powersupply it shows that it's discharging at between 1.62W and 1.9 and sometimes beyond (volatage shows 3.64V at the moment). Is that normal? Is there something I should tweek to get it to slow down and relax Huh *oh, and when i charge it it sometimes still gets unbearable hot. Do i have to be careful with the chargers i use?

The Mobian Project openly admit that battery life is poor; power management isn't a development focus.

You can start charging the phone, then turn it off (it continues charging) to reduce heat; using your phone while it charges will generate excess heat and put a parasitic load onto the battery. PINE64 sell a battery charger for $5 which will also eliminate heat - buy a spare battery and hot swap them.

Hi Jed, thanks for your reply!  I will try not to use the phone while charging, although, I don't want to miss a call or text at that time.  I did try to get the battery charger and a spare battery a while back. I just checked again, the charger is available, but the spare battery is still "out of stock" Sad

You can buy the charger and get a Samsung EB-BJ700BBC battery - just cut the tabs off the bottom with a sharp knife. Here's the relevant Wiki page.

Community Edition models have recesses for the tabs, but for a Braveheart you need to cut them off.

The Samsung battery is slightly taller than the included battery. It fits, but can be difficult to remove; I made a makeshift pull tab with tape to ease removal.
