Booklet type / flip case
#1
I'm looking for a booklet type case for my new PinePhone. I'm currently using the hard case and a glass screen protector, but especially the latter I quite dislike. I prefer to click my phone into a leather case and have a flap protect the screen when it's in my pocket.

Does anyone have experience with an existing case for an existing phone in which the PinePhone can be made to fit?

Someone did post a picture and details of the flip case they were using which was apparently a good fit. They cut a hole in the back for the camera. It's somewhere in the forums here, but I'm obviously using the wrong search terms. If you're lucky they'll repost here.

Yeah, I remember that post as well, but I also can't find it any more.

However, I decided making one myself. I used the PINE64 hard case (I have two of them anyway) and a leather pouch-style case for 6" smart phones.

I cut the stitches on the right and bottom, removed the pull cord, and glued the hard case to the leather on the right. Then I cut out the camera and speaker bar holes and used some sanding paper and a black marker to finish them.

It actually looks quite decent, although I'm not great with leather. I can post some pictures tomorrow.

If PINE64 would sell something like this made properly in a factory, I'd definitely buy it. The existing hard case can just be used for it.

So, this is how it turned out. It's not perfect, but it's pretty close to what I hoped it would be.

@Luke Is there any chance that PINE64 or an affiliate company will make something like this properly in a factory?

I'm really content with the case I made, but it's of course not as nice as one made in a factory, and I'd also like to be able to get more of them without going through this tedious process all the time.

I would happily pay $30~35 for a flip case like this.

For sure it is possible. I'll bring this to TL's attention.

Yes, it was me and I used a cover for the Galaxy Note 8 Plus. I bought it in a shop, but it looks something like this

Other options to consider are these:

I would really prefer a slim case with the front protection the OP descreibed and no stand in order to save some more on the thickness.

I ordered this to try out:

but it is no good, falls off the phone.

I'm also interested in some kind of bookcase.
Just wonder if it would be possible to find one that match with the phone and with Ubuntu Touch. I mean, if the edges wich have to fix the phone to the case are higher than the screen make a little harder to use gestures from the edges of the phone (like multitasking or take out the drawer).

Is there any update?

@tllim How do you think about this?
