What's your SOC temperature?

On my pinebook pro, the idle SOC temperature is 41 deg Celsius. When I put it under load with make -j6, it rises to 70 deg Celsius.

My wife's pinebook pro arrived and the idle SOC temperature is just 33 deg Celsius. When we put it under load with make -j6, it rises to 61 deg Celsius, only.

With idle, I mean just being logged into Mate without running any programs.

What are your's SOC temperatures?


Why is there a difference? Maybe the thermal paste sits sometimes better/worse on the SOC?

That really is interesting. How, exactly, do you measure the temp of the SOC?

For the record, on default build the SOC will downclock at 75*C and shut down at 90*C

On my (Linux) image, temperatures are available from

cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone*/temp

...and dividing by 1000. The various zones are the CPU, GPU, and battery.

My system idles as 38C, with the battery at 19C.

Normally my PBP has about 40 Cº on CPU/GPU.
When I use to play YouTube it increases to 50 Cº.
Max I've seen was 60 Cº when I moved a large file about 10 GB.
