Tested, my thoughts
Installed first time and just couldn't get it to work, re downloaded today and apparently there where some fixes made, now it works Hurray!!
Must say I love mate, Linux mint was my fisrt linux experience and love it, also more friendly for ppl that come from windows.
Things have been getting better Incrementally, wifi connects as it should, was able to get a better streaming experience at 1080 on some pages but youtube in chromium lagged at 1080 did a great job at 720. Was able to see my network media and let me say SMPlayer ran everything gorgeous really had a gr8 experience with this one everything sharp and crisp no stutters, cant say the same for kodi that was installed from apt and mpv also had some speed issues when running heavier 1080 files.
Desktop sometimes feels a little slow, and audio i felt has very high pitch, but working fine.
Still have overscan but this time i was able to fix with "xrandr --output HDMI-1 --panning 1920x1080 --transform 1.05,0,-35,0,1.08,-35,0,0,1" bad thing was that once i made it fit image, image became wobbly, wherever i passed with the mouse a strange shadow went behind, in general screen seemed like when you see a pond and it has waves, it was weird, if anyone interested I can send you video so you can experience the issue.
Love mate but would prefer a deskktop like the one Mr FixIt has based on that it just feels super smooth, media did get better performance and was able to access my network files, SMPlayer is the overachiever here it really felt like a finished product experience, was not able to try 4k so fyi.
I'm hopping some one comes up with a solution for this over scan trouble im having, builds have been getting better, first slackware then armbian, Mr FixIt and now Ayufan with this last build, hope development keeps the pace it has lately pretty soon we might have the user experience that we've all wanted.
I have been using it for a few days (Ubuntu Mate). Thanks to all those who contributed and Ayufan.
I give errors at the opening, I take pictures and share them here at the opening.
I could not activate 8 channel PCM audio. I did this in Mrfixit2001's Complete Debian Desktop Release, the same method didn't work, but I'm trying.
do I set the audio output to 96 or 192khz? Is this possible? When listening to music from the AVR, the sound is 44khz and not nice, the win10 pc was listening at 192khz and the sounds are very detailed clean.

Installed the image stretch-openmediavault-rockpro64-0.8.0rc4-1103-armhf.img, added the plug-ins miniDLNA, Samba and Bittorrent without additional settings. Rockpro64 4Gb, SATA card from stock. HDD WD Blue 1 Tb. Everything works for 2 days without a single failure. With previous versions, everything was much worse. A very big step forward! Thank!
Ahh! SATA error! Right after two days! Apply the log!
I do not know 100% when that happened, either after the kernel update from 4.4.132-1059 (or higher of 0.7.12 build, I do not remember what I had) to 4.4.167-1161, or OMV update from 4.1.19-1 to 4.1.20-1. I guess after the kernel update.
No remote desktop connection anymore. Installed plugin openmediavault-remotedesktop from omv-extras.
Code:
:~# dpkg -l | grep desktop
ii desktop-file-utils 0.23-1 armhf Utilities for .desktop files
ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 3.22.0-1 all GSettings desktop-wide schemas
ii libgarcon-1-0 0.4.0-2 armhf freedesktop.org compliant menu implementation for Xfce
ii libnotify4:armhf 0.7.7-2 armhf sends desktop notifications to a notification daemon
ii openmediavault-remotedesktop 4.0.1 all Remote desktop plugin for OpenMediaVault.
ii xfce4-panel 4.12.1-2 armhf panel for Xfce4 desktop environment
ii xfdesktop4 4.12.3-3 armhf xfce desktop background, icons and root menu manager
ii xfdesktop4-data
:~# dpkg -l | grep xrdp
ii xorgxrdp 0.9.1-9+deb9u3 armhf Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) modules for X.org
ii xrdp

Alternatively, installing a vnc server failed.
Question:
1: How to fix the problem with the remotedesktop?
2: How do I reset the kernel to 0.7.14 build?
3: How do I alternatively install vncserver / tightvncserver?

Think you may also want to ask in the OMV forum... don't have an answer or suggestion for you personally.
