You can find me on IRC, Discord and Twitter

#2
When upcoming the root version of Android?
#3
I loaded the image into etcher and it said it was not a bootable image. This was the first image to load into the emmc with the usb adapter.

just install it on the emmc, it will erase the old and install the new.

Cameras work under 8.1, they didn't work on 7.1

going to see if I can side load gapps.
#4
sideloading is still not working. I think this has to due with a partition missing. it is expecting a external_sd mount. But there is no mount.

cat recovery.fstab

it seems it is failing because the sd card is being called for as the external mount. so i need to prep the SD card to be used by the system?

update:
inserted my 64gb sd card and formated it for android as a media card. rebooted into android recovery. I'm about to see the mnt/external_sd when I goto update from sd card.
I was not able to push files to it. I'm going to try to download files in android and put them on the sd card then reboot into recovery mode

update:
got the files on the sd card, able to use the Apply update from SD card. However it is still failing signature verification. I think that what is needed is to have the SDK for the rk3399 8.1 android, then to download and build the opengapps for it specifically. I'm not sure if that is the direction we need to go?

Awesome, wrote the image to my 64GB eMMC chip, booted Android 8.1, connected to my WIFI using the Pine64 WIFI adapter and now I'm back to where I was using the older image,
Side loaded Google Play Store and Google Play Services from APK Mirror, I'm getting spammed with "Google Play Services won't run unless you update Google Play services."
I click the msg and allow Google Play Store to open, but all I get is a spinning circle and am going nowhere fast...
I've tried a few different versions of the play store and services from apk mirror, still no luck...
Anybody have any luck getting Google Play Store to successfully run with this image?

the open gapps are not sideloading on my machine. which ones did you side load that worked?

I just openned an issue on opengapps github to find out what the problem is.

they changed how things work and you need to give each app permissions now.

I downloaded the Google play services apk and Google play store apk from apk mirror.
Would the open gapps include anything needed to get the play store running? Right now I think my biggest hurdle on most of my arm sbc's is drm support from the Android image itself, I don't think I can get working drm just from installing a apk...

Hello Pine Team,

Will this available for MicroSD boot later down the road?

I would rather use eMMC but I have some customers asking about using MicroSD for 8.1 for RP64.

Thank you

I'm having no luck with Google Play on mine. Very little you can do without sideloading everything. Then it's hit or miss if they will work.
I'm using SD card for the time being.
I'm flashing it with RemixOS Pine64 edition to see if it works.
I don't know if I want to by an Emmc card just to try the newer operating system to see if Google play services work.
I did get Boinc running by sideloading so I have a feeling this is just going added to my pile of SBC that run Boinc in the corner and nothing else.
Sad, I hopes for a multimedia player and robot projects with Pine RockPro64.
It cant even load Netflix or Hulu or any of the other half million media apps if it can't do Google playstore.

RemixOS didn't boot. Linux wont work on my SD card for some reason.
Back to the pink screen with no apps, SD card Android.
It plays some movies via the USB but still no way to run Google Apps.
Sideload from APK Mirror is the only hope and figuring out some apps that "work" is a pain.
So it will sit crunching Boinc in the corner while I play with my Tinkerboard and Rpies.

I ordered 5 Pine A64 boards for a Cluster build. Maybe the older boards will play well.
I'm a beta tester.
