IR Receiver

The Wiki says:  "IR receiver (no need to staff IR connector, just reserved 3 pin connectors Vcc, CIR_RX, Gnd)  
What does this mean?   Is a IR receiver built into Pine A64?   Is any additional wiring or modification required to be made to the Pine A64 to be able to use the IR remote control with the Pine A64?

I looked at the schematic but it doesn't clear up the confusion.

I suspect what it means is the board has a 3 pin slot you can plug an IR receiver into, and presumably software will be added to work with the IR remote that they sell in the backer kit (PINE64 Basic Media IR Remote Control, $6.99 for kickstarter, $9.99 afterwards). I would hope that the IR controller also includes the IR receiver that you can plug into the Pine64.

If pine64 doesn't include the IR receiver, you can get them at various DIY electronics stores. For example, Sparkfun sells one: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10266?...1453425490, and Adafruit: https://www.adafruit.com/products/157.

However, decoding IR signals are timing dependent, which is not something that general OSes like Android or Linux are good at. Hopefully there is code in the kernel to do the decoding in real time.

The 3pin IR receiver device will include together with IR remote control.

O.K.  So the IR receiver is not built into the Pine A64 board.  instead it comes with the IR remote control and has to be installed by the user.

The IR receiver is not build into the Pine A64 board, so that other user who don't use the IR remote control function can use the same port for 1 wire protocol temperature sensor or security IC application.

Hi, just starting with my Pine. In this thread I do not understand where is the IR receiver installed in the board.

I got the remote with the receiver but now where do I solder it ?

just next to the audio connector with 3-pin connector. between power buttons and audio jack

No need to solder, there is a 3x1 header where you can stick the IR receiver, as for the pinout, it is describe in the schematic and/or in http://wiki.pine64.org/images/d/da/Pine64_Connector.JPG. I just mounted mine facing outwards and trying to see if I can get it working with Linux...

Did you cut length ofthe IR receiver? It looks as if there isn't enough room for the top (with the risers on) to be on?
