I have a nexdoc. The pine64 will drive the display but not well, it is not crisp like it should be.
The display resolution of the nexdoc is 1366*768, but I can't select this under ubuntu on the pine (in fact I an only select one resolution (I can't remember what). Is there some way around this?

Confirmed - Pine64 will not go to 1366x768.... It's a right PITA!
Neither on the Motorola Lapdock, nor on my 15.5" GAEMs portable HDMI monitor... Seems a bizarre omission, as that resolution is reasonably common, I've seen a bunch of TVs that run at that resolution, and it's the native resolution of the NextDock, the Motorola Lapdock and the GAEMs LCD...
Other SBCs I've used have no problem syncing automatically, i.e. namely the BananaPI and the NTC CHIP.
I'm waiting delivery of an Orange Pi Plus 2E and hoping that will also do 1366x768 without too much stuffing around...
That "VNC" workaround is not really a "workaround" - it might be handy if you've got a tiny screen and need to adjust things like DPI or fonts or whatever, but why mess with VNC when you've got a perfectly good monitor?
Yes, this is disappointing for me too. I've tried using my odroid c2 with the Motorola lapdock and it makes a great portable computer. Unfortunately I've tried 2 lapdocks and they both died suddenly, which was very disappointing. After that, I've thought about trying the Nexdock instead, but I don't have a lot of interest in using the pine for some of my project ideas ifthe display won't look right.
Hopefully the smart people will be able to find a way for it to support more resolutions. It would be great to see the "Pine, Inc" and/or Allwinner contribute to these efforts more too.
I have a nexdock too. With longsleep's Ubuntu it works but have the same issue with the screen as described above. Also I have trouble connecting the keyboard, trackpad, camera and speakers to the PINE64. Willing to test and find good configuration for all to use. First up is the screen resolution.
Which people are most likely to help out with this?
Anyone already succeeded in using USB keyboard and touchpad from nexdock? If yes, how please.
I hope Nexdock can host a short manual on this.
