Update on shipment status for ABS case, Playbox enclosure, and ZWave module

I just posted this over in the OpenHAB section, since I am also have Z-Wave+case clearance issues. I posted with pictures, in case anyone else wants to see.

What a flipping mess, and you'd think someone would actually assemble one of these before sending them out. There is no excuse for the lack of QA on that. It'll take what, another 6 months to get a proper solution? Not to mention the current software image can't even use this Z-Wave radio, so we have hardware with no software almost a year post-release.

I'm not sinking another dime in Pine64 at this point; that's for sure.

The list that marked yellow means already shipped with tracking number.  The shipping facility still continue shipped out on this week and I will update this list from time to time. If you have any question or inquiry, please email to support@pine64.org, please don't PM me due to this will overload my current loading which is already very heavy.

The total shipment quantity is 10328 pieces and the shipping facility already shipping out 9651 pieces up till today. Still have 667 pieces to ship out on next week, this includes ZWave AU module shipment once we received additional module from factory on September 7.


so my backer number is not on list. 12931. Am I ever going to receive my playbox?

I will check and ask shipping facility to dispatch out on this week.

The obvious solution to this embarrassing delema and technical DIY challenge is to replace the connector on the z-wave module with a ribbon cable which then runs over to the board. I would use velcro stickies to mount the z-wave mod away from hand-hold positions and leave plenty of ribbon length for easy installation. Right-angle header connectors can be used;  however, I would use the connector I removed from the z-wave module as the connector for the pine board headers; solder a ribbon cable to the connnector and run it over the the z-wave module , where it will be soldered in place as well.

Good solution, Mark.  Since most of these folks appear not to have had much experience hardware hacking, perhaps you can provide links to the hardware you recommended?  

Everyone else, this is a KS campaign funded project so... you didn't order an iPhone. For what it's worth, the Pine guys have done a pretty amazing job pulling together a cheap, robust, unbelievably efficient dev board.  It works with minimal hacking and fuss but, of course, it is not perfect and we didn't pay for perfect.

There is a pretty robust community forming around the Pine64 project, I'd suggest keeping cool and reaching out for solutions from the community.

Is there currently a planned solution to the Zwave module that doesn't fit? Will PINE be sending out a ribbon cable to those who ordered the IoT kit so that they can use the Zwave module with the case? Will a new case be sent out? A new Zwave module?

I haven't seen anything official about this yet, and would love to know. Seems there are several of us wondering.

Internally we puzzle about missing out you in the shipping list. Your Playbox just shipped today, here is the tracking number: LT232639395CN

Any update on the cases? Daniel at Pine64 had been responsive, but recently has stopped responding to me requests for status updates. I did purchase mine through Backerkit. I have received everything except for the case. Very disappointed that the folks at Pine64 seem to be non-responsive at this point.

This may due to we change the support from email to ticket. Please can PM me or file a support ticket (prefer way), we will follwo up.
