There are exceptions, but it will be hard to argue (and I would not be surprised either if Mobian and Debian were to attempt to fingerpoint you back and forth to each other, as often happens in this kind of situation). And GTK upstream will obviously not accept a patchset that does little more than reverting 33 of their commits to reverse a decision they made deliberately.

I think putting up a third-party repository (a PPA as the Ubuntu folks would call it) is the most effective solution to get this out to all users quickly without wasting time arguing with people. But I need someone with Debian packaging experience, or at least a Debian/Mobian user willing to learn Debian packaging, to do that for Debian/Mobian.

In Maemo(Nokia N-series Linux ie:N900) we had stable, unstable, testing, Nokia store, and popular unofficial .deb repos.  This might be a good idea for a Pine-mobian hacks repo, probably would be good as an add-on or PPA so things like PP and Pinetab(Wifi, BT, cameras) can load the hardware mods to make mobbian and other major repos work as close to 100%.

Hello

I've been unable to switch off Wifi for several days.

Yesterday, I could switch off the Wifi by using the button near the other one that displays the mobile operator.

GNOME Decoder and Camera are still very low.

I upgraded yesterday, I started to lose the connection very often and now, only wifi works. No modem is found according to "mmcli -L". I tried to restart ModemManager and eg25-manager, it doesn't help. 80-modem-eg25.rules hasn't been changed recently (I only have zetabeta's trick). Please can someone help me? I'm going to try another SIM card.

nmcli radio
WWAN-HW
missing
WWAN
activated

P.S : It works when I restart the modem manager, eg25 manager and the network manager, I have to run mmcli -S, and I disable mobile data, it's a temporary workaround. It worked once Saturday and once this Sunday but it's not bullet-proof, I tried tens of times. I can call and send SMS. The roaming seems to work for calls too.

P.S 2: My problem happens with 3 distinct SIM cards both under Bookworm and Trixie. I suspect an hardware problem. I'm sad. Now, I have to use the Librem 5 as I don't want to buy an Android phone.

Hello

I painfully succeeded in upgrading from Mobian Bookworm (I need full disk encryption and the latest installer is still under Bookworm) to Mobian Trixie today on my latest Pinephone, but I just have the terminal, no desktop environment. What should I do now?

P.S: The Mobian Trixie image using Phosh of September 14th 2025 doesn't work at all (it doesn't boot, there's an error message very early in the console), the one of September 7th has broken Wifi support, the one of August 31st seems to work (Wifi works, Phosh too).

let's offer basics first. hope that usb dongle works and you have one. connect usb keyboard. you switch virtual consoles with ctrl-alt-f1 to ctrl-alt-f6. in virtual console, usually alt-f* is enough. log in with "mobian" and password, which is the number you gave.

then you start using "apt-get" and/or "aptitude", usually "sudo" is needed. but i give specific information later.

with "nmtui" you could connect to internet, or just you ethernet.

Now I'm going to retry flashing the modem. Then, I'll have to learn how to use cryptsetup in order to encrypt the home partition after installing the operating system in order to stop relying on the Mobian installer that hasn't been updated since 2023.

I've just updated the different steps I follow to install Mobian Linux at the end of my article.
