I don't know, but they state: "Color: Red (indicates this is a power usage cable)"

So most likely they are power only cables...

I also use one of several silicone usb-c - usb-c cables I bought form pine64 to connect laptop to pinephone.

Does anyone know a source for a reasonably-priced USB-C cable with a silicone jacket? It would be nice to have a power cable the iron can't melt.

The TS80 kit evidently includes a nice one, but it can't be ordered separately (AFAIK) and is an A-to-C cable, and I'd want C-to-C to use PD.

For that matter, does anyone make a silicone barrel-style power cable? That would be easy enough to adapt, I'd think .


EDIT: This looks promising--a 2m silicone USB C-to-C cable for under $5 shipped on Aliexpress. Granted, it could be absolute crap, and I'll probably be vaccinated before it shows up, but hey ... promising.

I bought a couple of the USB-C silicone cables from Pine64 store , real value at about $3.50 each. they are flexible and heat resistant.  It did not increase the $11.99 shipping cost to include them and I regret not getting more at the time. Will definitely order more of them when I do another pine64 order.

These cables really do seem to be popular, as when I ordered my Pinecil, there were no 1.5M cables in stock, so I hade to make do with a 1M cable.

By the way, does anyone know how resistant to heat are Lenovo's OEM charger cables (as in, the ones that are soldered onto the charger)?

I had recently purchased a ThinkPad L14 Gen1 (AMD) that does not post (with the intention of repairing it), so I also got it's stock charger with it (unfortunately, it is the ungrounded variant, however at least I have plenty of spare Europlug cables to replace the NEMA cable, though I do have a few of my country's standard's cables for once I order a Framework charger, either via a friend in the US, or once they are available in my country (in which case it will be unnecessary).

Funnily enough, this will probably mean that I am going to use the ThinkPad's charger with the Pinecil to repair the ThinkPad.

sometimes there is a rating printed on the cords/cables like 60c. heat resistant cords/cables like silicone ones are much higher rating. a lot of cords laptop are just pvc type and will melt if touched with iron. My laptop cord has a stamp that says 60c which is too low to be heat resistant to the iron, and is made of the typical black pvc covering that is on many cables.
Silicone cables can be up to 200C heat resitant. other advantage of silicone cable is it is much more flexible than laptop cables.
