BT WONT CONNECT
#1
Seriously to ANYTHING

I thought maybe because my main ppc is a homebrew linux pc that MAYBE the BT wasnt solid, so I tried 3 win10 laptops and my android phone.

I can pickup the TV set across the yard at my neighbors, nada from the PT.

I bought the dev kit and never had time to work w/ it so to support the cause I bought the sealed version as well

and well THATS not working out so well.

I have no issue thinking im doing something wrong, but I started because the date/time out of the box is wrong and w/ nothing in the box suggesting a fix google found:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFk_K53U_Oc&t=98s

which probably works great, just not w/ mine?

should i just determine ive lost another $30 and toss it?

ANy and all ideas greatfully appreciated

Thanks

You've given zero detail about what you've actually tried, so it's difficult to help you. Does your hardware support BLE, which is required, or just classic Bluetooth which won't work? Which software have you tried and what exactly did you try to do with it?

Wibble,

Thanks for the reply, to be honest I hadnt realized the difference of the BT5 and BTE but I'll give it a shot.

Bottom line, this far I have tried Linux Mint 20.1 w/ the KDE BT util, but I'll look further on the BR vs BTE

Microsoft Surface and Lennovo 2in1 with Win10, built in util

Then my android tablet and phone, using several apps including amzfit and MyAir

However, if you have a KNOWN good app/prog/util that works in one of the 3 listed environments Im more than happy to try it.

It just amazed me that I can pick up my wifes fitbvit and sons galaxy watch across the hopuse and cant see the pine time on the desk

rthx

j

actually change that, not Amzfit, but Gadgetbridge

I'm using Gadgetbridge 0.60.0 from f-droid on a Pixel 3a running LineageOS at the moment. Apparently the Play Store version of Gadgetbridge doesn't include support. I don't know which firmware version yours came with, but until the InfiniTime 1.6.0 release a few days ago there was a bug in the bluetooth stack that stopped it working properly after it had run for ~1 day. The workaround is to reboot the pinetime by holding the power button until it restarts, which should be ~10s - note that the screen may go blank at some point before it has restarted. On mine the bootloader starts with a white Pine logo that fills in green from the bottom - you can let go of the button as soon as the white logo appears. Soon after the green reaches the top of the logo you should see the watch face, and Gadgetbridge should be able to connect to it. You can then download the latest pinetime-mcuboot-app-dfu-<version>.zip from the releases page. In the android file manager you can long press to select the zip file, then from the hamburger menu pick 'Open with' which should give you Gadgetbridge as an option - this will start the firmware upgrade process. Once it's installed you need to validate the firmware - there's a section in the getting started doc linked below that describes the process, although the screenshots are from an older version.

You did it!

Thanks, bought my $5 BLE adapter from amazon, plugged it into my PC (Linux Mint) , synced it w/ the native BT util, and using the aforementioned chrome ext in the video, I have a watch that tells the correct time!

Thanks

Hi Guys I am using PineA64 PineTime 2GB the bluetooth is an optional feature. SO I did purchase the Bluetooth Board Dongle NOT the USB one https://pine64.com/product/pine64-wifi-8...-0-module/ and when I use Armbian it automatically detects the bluetooth However when I use Dietpi OS
I am unable to use bluetooth as I get error message no device sound. SO is there a special driver installation option or some sequence of scripts I need to install to get my bluetooth dongle working again with DietPi Os ?

Thanks

I think you're getting your products mixed up - the PineTime is a smart watch. You're more likely to get an answer if you ask in one of the A64 subforums.

Did you reboot the phone as well?
