passwd / can't log in

Thanks @mainer , that got me going again AND now I know how to experiment with different distros. Thanks so much!
For anyone else who messes up like me, here's the docs I found to fully do what mainer suggested:
1) Choose a distro: https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/Pinebo...an_Desktop
2) Prepping the image and SD Card for booting: https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/NOOB
3) Put the SD card in the Pinebook and reboot. Noob note: if you use the same distro... it will look the same! Try logging in.
4) Follow the chroot instructions. As mainer said, the drive was already mounted. Mine was at "/media/rock/<some GUID>: http://www.microhowto.info/howto/reset_a...ution.html
5) Remove the SD and reboot
6) Login
7) Profit!
