So, what's the recommended way to shut down braveheart (1.1) at the moment?

Or use the equivalent function built into the desktop environment. For example, phosh has a power menu in the top-right.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, do not remove the battery, or operate the modem killswitch, until the PinePhone has been powered down for 30 seconds.
