Hi @bokomaru, yes the changes to the wiki look good - necessarily unclear . The asterix' help denote that the situation is not straightforward.
More generally I think it would be helpful to clarify the name and roles of the "DCIN" and "USB-5V" pins. Here is my suggestion:
USB-C VIN/VOUT (aka DCIN) - pin voltage and role depends on the phone's USB mode (host or device) and is not directly user controllable
DC-VOUT (aka USB-5V) - "always on" output from the phone, +5V when phone is active, otherwise battery voltage (~3.0 to 4.3V)
If the DC-VOUT/USB-5V acts like the +5V rail on the Pine A64 LTS (and probably the A64), the battery can be depleted by having something drawing sub-5V on it (some USB devices will shut themselves off). Might be worth including this as a note, ideally with confirmation from the Pine64 developers.
As for my specific need, I've fallen back to using the "convergence dock" which I can now use for charging the phone much more quickly (higher current) and more reliably with the updated mobian 5.11 patch:

Many thanks @bokumaru and everyone else who has contributed on this topic
