I don't think that the factory applies all of the screen protectors perfectly, and basically, they're just a piece of thin plastic - tho they do the job. Mine got quite scratchy after a couple of months, so I replaced it with a glass one (around $3) - the ones made for the iphone xs max fit pretty much perfectly.
