You are correct in that the sliver side, or contacts, face downward.
With the connectors themselves, you need to lift up the black tabs, slide the cable in flush to the connector as far as it will go,
and then close the black tab. You cannot slide the cables in without opening the tabs.
Is that the touch screen from Pine64 or some other screen? If it's the Pine screen, did it come with the extender or did you have to find that somewhere else?
Also it's hard to tell in the picture whether it's mounted inside a homemade cardboard or wood case, or just sitting on top of one. Either way it looks cool. I ordered a couple of the ABS cases but I keep seeing other random containers and thinking they would make decent cases for a pine64 or rpi.
That is the LCD that came from Pine64. You're right, they are just setting on top of each other (separated with a napkin)!
I ordered the case, but it has not been shipped yet.
Also, the extender cable and cable adapter came with the board! They also included a push button switch that I can solder into the Power or Reset location!
