Whatsapp used to work on the Maemo Linux Nokia N900 and N9. Facebook bought the app and for a while the devs were able to keep it working by using components from the SymbianOS app until that was EOL'ed; towards the end an android or apple phone was required to authorize the account. The final linux version stopped working maybe ten years ago. I am not sure what is still useful but if there is a breakthrough in hacking whatsapp here is some help reinventing the wheel. https://wiki.maemo.org/Wazapp
