I got the 4K media computer. 1GB unit, 8 GB micro sd, pre loaded with android 5.1, ir receiver and remote, power supply and enclosure. With shipping to Canada it was $74 USD. I'm going to upgrade to 2GB or more later on.
I live in an arid part of BC and dust is a real problem so I think this will solve the problem.
It's time I learned more about computers anyway.
Ah I see. I went to the tier above this one just because of the touch screen for portability sake. I take you have a screen at home then or can plug it in to the TV? I wouldn't say assembly is complicated, and to be honest I was worried at that first too. It's probably even easier than if you had your default Desktop and would be searching for the places to plug in your screen and such. If anything I'm sure there will be videos crawling on youtube just to make sure you are not plugging in anything wrong. And worst of worst case scenarios, your son could help you on the first time around and from then onwards it would be straightforward!
I am also worried about dust, the acrylic enclosure may not be a good idea for me because dust will probably plague my Pine in a couple days. Which is sad, since I really liked how nice it looks like.
