Will sudo pacman -Syu brick the PineTab2?

I do `sudo pacman -Syu` also. The other day, I wen to Discovery and it said there were no updates. I used pacman and got a large amount of updates. I don't understand why there was a difference between the two. I don't recall doing anything that would have caused that.
