It kinda sounds like a mis-calibrated proximity sensor might be part of the problem.  Debian is transitioning from Pulseaudio to Pipewire and that seems to be causing various audio problems for many.  Check your config.  You might consider posting this in the "Mobian on PinePhone" forum.
