Booting with TOC0 u-boot -- should it work?

Hello, I compile u-boot as EGON without SCP, write that to ARCH linux SD media and it works.
Then, I want to build and TOC0 uboot (same without SCP) signed by some random key and trying to boot that. That does not work.

Should it work at all?

PineBook 1080 A64.
