PinePhone keyboard number key row issue - solution

When people say that it is hard to press the keys in the top row, do they mean that there is resistance to travel or that you have to bang on the key to get the character to appear onscreen? I am experiencing the latter, as reported by another user in another thread at https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=15749
