A couple of thoughts if there's a major revision

If there's ever a major revision to the PBP's design, it might be nice to have a "disk" (really bus) activity light. That would make it easier to detect problems prior to the OS loading, (Might cost too much to revise the case and board.)

The other suggestion would probably be easier to implement; put the socket (USB, audio, &c) silkscreen labels on the keyboard top rather than the sides, (obviously, pointing to the locations). The text could be a little larger (hence more legible). Generally, one inserts cables and jacks while above the keyboard, rather than peering at the side.

The LEDs on the PBP are GPIO/ software driven. You can make any of the lights perform that function, it's just a matter of configuring the right software at the right time.

Actually, only the "power" bi-color LED is wired independently, and the remaining two LEDs are wired to the keyboard controller and I'm not aware of the possibility to control them independently.

The only issue is that the "invert" option for LEDs hasn't been merged in the Linux kernel mainline.  Thus, it's currently rather hard to have the behavior of the power LED that was availabe in the OG Debian installation: LED on for no disk access, LED off for disk access.  That was rather cool. Smile

I'll probably get to implementing that kernel feature again, in a slightly different form, and submitting it upstream.
