Tor with Mobian on Pinephone
#1
Does anyone have any experience with Tor on a Pinephone with Mobian? Thanks!

Are you talking about installing and using Tor browser or forcing all of your traffic through the Tor network?

I can say, that downloading the tor browser and running it from the command line does not work. There only comes a message stating that the cpu does not support a specific feature. I assume that this is because the bundle isn't compiled for the cpu architecture of the pine phone. May it would work by compiling it yourself.

Video showing how to setup Tor as a socks v5 proxy setting on Firefox (or any other client using socksv5 settings):

Yes, that was what I was thinking of doing but as @cybercow noted it does not work.

While a working Tor Browser is ideal, til that moment comes, here is what I do:

  1. Follow the video posted in my previous reply to route all firefox through tor (Or I use pi torified router when I want to route everything through tor).
  2. I keep Firefox (tor as proxy from prev link I sent) setup as my 24/7 "Tor browser". I only do "anonymous" browsing-- nothing tied to identity on this to avoid linking it to browser fingerprint/link my accounts.
  3. I installed Falkon browser and use it for my regular web traffic. Falkon works well (smooth scrolling). I suggest trying it out, this browser is worth a look.

One could try a setup like this until Tor browser runs/loads correctly.
