Makes sense. That's a bummer though.

The shipment to Australia takes much longer time then we anticipated :-(

Godot is a open source game engine available on other OS's, If you have a interest in developing games maybe its worth checking out and seeing if games can be exported and edited to work on Mobian, UBports etc. There is even a repo for it to make it available on the Raspberry Pi.

Regarding development on UBports you might want to check this out, this was posted by him somewhere else on the forums as well. Interesting read, it is also lengthy.

It doesn't seem like UBports team is making the Pinephone a priortiy, you would think they would make open source phones a priority and on top of that, the reported 40 to 45K they received from the CE edition phones.

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately I'm not looking to make a game but rather a running calendar. That is an interesting read, I will have to finish it later as I'm currently at work.

Did you hear them say they aren't making the PinePhone a priority or are you just assuming? Because that would suck if they said that because as you mentioned, they did get a decent chunk of money from the CE phones.

Reading that whole article and also exploring UBports and their website. They were also given Librem5 phones to work on. The Pinephone and the Librem 5 isn't even mentioned on the phones supported instead they have the Fairphone 2, the OnePlus and that tablet. Then when going to the OS image for Pinephone I get directed to a discontinued version.  Though someone affiliated with them does mention the Pinephone in their video podcasts. From what I have seen and gathered I am disappointed that the 2 open source phones are not given proper treatment, I don't want to make trouble but I am skeptical of some people that are involved. I mean look at Ubuntu and their shady and controversial history. The recent thing with Snap is a tell tale that not everyone involved with Linux has the best intentions for the open source community. Again I don't want to stir up trouble but I think we should acknowledge these things.

I could be wrong here but I think a device isn't considered "supported" until it is daily driver ready which could explain why the PinePhone isn't on there. I haven't used Ubuntu in a long time so I haven't heard of their Snap controversy.

The people behind UBports were handed  Ubuntu Touch by Ubuntu, I don't know how close they are but maybe someone who follows these things closely may have better insight on this.  We have gotten off-topic here sorry about that.

In my opinion If I was going to develop apps for a Linux mobile OS, I think I would give Mobian and PostMarket OS a try.

For my Fix of Linux related news and tutorials I find this place to be my go to spot. https://itsfoss.com/

There's also https://www.fossmint.com/

I myself would like to develop games on Linux. Maybe those sites might have some nice insight and tools that can help you out for Linux related needs.

Most likely I would start off with RPGs. I saw there was a new RPG Maker version this month but its not open source or available on Linux yet.
