Fixing the USB-C problem in software?

How can I do "a manual selection of power and data roles"? Is there a command or shell script I could use?

I don't know how to solder, so I can't desolder the VCONN switches.

I don't think there is at the moment, and many hubs/peripherals will not handle it correctly even if you do. It's a rather serious hardware defect. If you're super careful, you could probably just get some fine pliers and crunch the two switches off the board. Just be careful not to damage any other adjacent components!

ncp334fct2g was mentioned as replacement for one of the switches. but it's being sold in packages of large numbers (strip). how could a hobby electronist get just one unit like that?
Are there alternative switch types that could be used?
Maybe Pine64 could add 1-2 of them in the package if we order some Pinephone accesory?

No need to buy. Pine Store already purchase some and will provide as free. Arrangement will be post in later stage.
