got mine delivered to India.

Hey Anuj,

Mind sharing the breakdown of the amount paid?
I am also from India and looking to buy, but $112 in import duties is too much. Sad

From what I have found on the internet, the custom duty + DHL charges in India should be around Rs 3678 ($ 52) using following breakdown:

CIF = Cost (199 $) + insurance + freight (39 $) = 238 $ * 71.38 = Rs 16988
Landing Charges = 1% of CIF  = Rs 170
Total = 16988 + 170 = Rs 17158
Basic Customs Duty on Laptops = 0% of (CIF+LC)
IGST - 18% of (0+17158) = ₹3088
DHL Disimbursement fee = Rs 500
DHL IGST = Rs 90

Total = Rs 3678 ($ 52)

Hi Aaditya,

Sorry, just saw this. Ya, I did not understand the bill either. Here's the breakdown

Customs Duty = Rs. 1747.34
IGST = Rs. 5430.72
S W Surcharge = Rs 174.73
DHL Disbursement fee = Rs. 500
IGST for ^ (18%) = Rs. 90
Total = Rs. 7942.79

They don't give details about how IGST was calculated.

The same thing happened to me last year. I ordered the Rockpro 64 and a bunch of other stuff. My total was $237 + $30 (shipping, Aramex). Aramex actually gave me the customs bill then, don't remember where I put it. But they charged me around Rs. 10400 (about $150) or something, and the bill was confusing as hell.

Thanks mate Anuj.

Someone is scamming us, maybe the Indian customs department or these private couriers.

Customs duty charged looks to be ~ 12 % (12% of 199$ ~= Rs 1704.55). While it should be 0 for laptops as per post I read before.

IGST is supposed to be 18 % on laptops (18 % of customs duty + item cost + shipping) from what I found earlier. But you were charged Rs 5430 which is more like 28 %! (28% of 1704 +17158 )

https://www.indiafilings.com/learn/gst-r...equipment/ (28%)
https://www.indiafilings.com/learn/gst-r...r-laptops/ (18%)

Did the courier guys call you before paying on your behalf?
If this happens next time you can clarify that the item is a computer. Could save you a significant percentage of the price.

NL, sent to work address, no duties or taxes paid. I guess I got lucky…

70 € in Finland. It is only fair if you import from outside EU the tax duty gets done. Go to web, pay with card, next day laptop got delivered.

Belgium - I just paid €64.06 (= US$70.49) import duty/tax.
