Battery drained while turned off
#1
This problem keeps recurring and I can't even grasp on how I could probably debug it:
 - I am using the Ubuntu Mint image, upgraded to 17.10
 - Installed i3, work in it, still use power manager from Mint
 - I turn off the PineBook with the "poweroff" command
 - I turn it on next day and the battery is dead.
Any clue?

Just make sure the power LED light turns off before closing the Pinebook lid. This will ensure your Pinebook actually turn off.

I also had to disconnect my optical usb-mouse, because after shutdown and closing the lid the red light from the mouse did shine Sad
(got Q4OS or armbian on my pinebook)

I'm a longtime user, have been seeing some battery power discharge while the machine is off (lid of the chassis can be warm to the touch after hours off). I've yet to get to the bottom of this, but can verify that a machine that's well and truly shutdown can still be discharging.

I suspect it was a typo, and he meant 'Mate' , since he then mentioned the i3 image. btw, he hasn't been around since March, so you may not get a reply.
