General Battery Questions

So I spent a day since getting the battery trying to find some sort of instructions or info and really found nothing short of the specs of the battery.

So I have the three pin battery and I know where to plug it in, but how does it charge? does it just charge through the board?

and the jumper I see the one position looks to be for battery is there some info on the two positions? will the position for battery disable the external power?

how do I turn the system on when the battery is connected? I don't like the idea of connecting and reconnecting it every time.

If the info is on a page somewhere could someone post it.

 As my battery,I only plugging it in and set the jump and then use POWER button  to turn board on.

You mean that you want to start the system after a shut down?

Had you soldered start button to the device ?

I didn't receive a button to solder, so im hoping to find one at a Radio shack sometime in the future. 

My concern is that they are giving out this battery and i can find 0 documentation about its use. not even a small insert with a picture and a message saying it will charge through the pine. for some these answers may be obvious but they are not to everyone.


also trying to figure out what works with what is getting annoying i consider myself a google warrior so not finding anything is disheartening. Do you know if the battery does not work with Remixos? all i get is a battery charging symbol. though it works fine with the android image.

What I ended up doing is getting a larger momentary switch and running 2 wires to it so I could place the switch where ever I wanted. This allows me to turn on and off the system with the battery attached (See first pic in post http://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=1429 ). Other wise you will have to put a SPST switch inline with the positive or negitive battery wire to shut it off but that disables charging when you want the screen off. Definitely best is to somehow wire a momentary switch to the board so you get full functionality from it.

So your switch goes over the power line.

You need a "tactile button" for the motherboard.

Yes, the board has a power button which connects to the PMIC (Power-Management IC) and also can triggers certain events in an operating system. The second button is a Reset button. There are also to spots where you can solder two LEDs. One is a charger indication LED and the other is connected to a Pin on the A64 and you can control that from your software. The PMIC has an integrated, programmable battery charger that usually charges the battery if DC input voltage is available and no undervoltage/overvoltage/overcurrent/overtemperature faults are detected... once the OS has booted, the charger is also controlled by various pieces of software, like on a tablet or cellphone... see here for the LEDs: http://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?t...6#pid13006
