Ribbons trouble

So I am trying to help my sister in law put hers together while I await the arrival of mine. And we are having a hard time getting the ribbons to slot in for the touch pad.(there is a chance we are making it work but they aren't staying) Is there a trick to it? The last time I built a computer was a long time ago.

The ribbon cable kind of thin. There is a flip door on the socket, just flip the door up, slide in the cable and flip the door down, this will latch the cable.
