How would I go about solving this?

You should shutdown(not reboot) after flashing step 1

Oh welp that fixed it. I expected rebooting to function as power cycling as well. Thank You!

Much better. But still quite far behind consumer laptops.

Just to add to the thread for no other reason than to cheer.

New touchpad software works great Smile This improvement actually makes it usable.

Having to use Manjaru for a few days, I can understand why some people think there's still room for improvement. Default Manjaru is very sluggish compared to the NetBSD installation I've been using. But it did take me a while to get the user settings to that point. So I expect with careful tuning of the touchpad parameters in Plasma on Manjaru, most everyone will much appreciate the way the touchpad works since the firmware update.

firmware

just a new guy here, but simple commands seemed to fix the lag in my cursor for my pinebook pro running fedora. shakey on some basic concepts, but didnt want to risk bricking my tracpad and/or keyboard..following given flashing instructions to a tee, i booted my manjaro from sd for flashing (as im not totally comfortable with fedora or even cli's yet and manjaro steps were completely listed). Super easy, very happy, Thank you!!

Could it be, that I need to reinstall the firmware update after a reinstallation of Manjaro?
I have the feeling that my touchpad has gotten worse again. But I don't want to sacrifice my potentially limited amount of flashes without a reason. Smile

Hello,  I  have the  SH61F83  chip.  did you ever get verification that it's the same IC and can do many  changes of  OS  distro's to it?
This would be good to know

   thanks

Step 1 and Step 2 were successful. However:

Code:
$ sudo pbp-fwupdate flash-kb firmware/default_ansi.hex

Please note that updating the firmware carries a small risk
of permanently disabling the trackpad and keyboard, effectively
bricking them.  Proceed at your own risk.

Press Ctrl+C within the next five seconds to cancel... 5 4 3 2 1

Segmentation fault

I have the same issue as this.  Has anyone found a solution yet?
